More About the Author

When Sharyn walked into the door of her first quilting class in the fall of 1978, she had no idea how that simple action would change the rest of her life. She had always loved to sew and do crafts. In fact, she had been a Home Economics major in college, graduating with a degree in Clothing and Textiles. Just attending one quilting class made it clear what all that training had been leading up to. Today she teaches, lectures, and writes about her passion, quiltmaking, and has authored twelve previous books. She has also been a regular contributor to Traditional Quiltworks magazine, having originated the Design Challenge column. You can visit Sharyn on her web site at www.sharyncraig.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best, May 26, 2001
By
Carol H. Miller (www.Quilt University.com) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Setting Solutions (Paperback)
If you make quilt blocks, you want to own this book. Sharon will show you how to create your own quilts with blocks that are not matched in size or color and the results will be better than you would ever expect.   As I read through, marveling at her creativity, I kept wondering why she had such an endless supply of mismatched blocks of the month. She does it on purpose! She likes the challenge of starting with something and making it better, rather than making her own orderly and boring quilt from scratch.

There is no way to overstate how much you will get out of this book. Another recent book by Margaret Miller dealt with the same subject but her solutions were so much work that I doubt I would ever use them. This book contains easy, approachable solutions to problems all of us have faced. If you make blocks, you will want to have it in your library for endless inspiration.

This review is from: Setting Solutions (Paperback)
Finally a good quilt book that tells you how to fix or set blocks! There are no patterns in this book, but who needs another pattern book. This book helps you clean up all those blocks just setting around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Those Orphan Blocks and UFOs Have Marinated Long Enough, April 13, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Setting Solutions (Paperback)
Sharon Craig's new book is wonderful. If you have orphan blocks and or UFO's this book may be just the thing you need to give your creativity a jump-start, so that you can finish those projects. Quilter's from beginners to advanced will benefit from adding this book to their library. It is filled with pictures, as well as great instruction and explainations. There are numerous quilts made from the same sets of blocks which demonstrate Ms. Craig's ideas about "coping." New quilters will love the idea that even if your blocks aren't perfect you can still make a fantastic quilt. Advanced quilters will like the idea of finished quilts! If you have abandoned projects, Setting Solutions has great ideas for setting those blocks that have been marinating in the closet, under the bed or in a box somewhere.
