5.0 out of 5 stars buy it now
this is super aggressive, meaty, loud, pounding sonic annihilation based on heavy drumming heavily distorted bass, and chunky/and at times angular guitars. Reminds me of jesus lizard, shellac, and few other touch and go and dischord acts of the 90's. This is some serious stuff. brutal record of the year from a brand new band. Stand out's include tracks 1,2,5,7,8,9. this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Young Widows - 'Settle Down City' (Jade Tree)
Power trio from Louisville, Kentucky. This appears to be their first {so far} CD. Best described as post-punk. Tunes I found to be the most inspiring were the title track "Settle Down City", "The Charmers", the aggressive "Mirror F**ker" and "We Didn't Know". Didn't exactly knock me out, you understand it's JUST that this genre of music has been done over so numerous...

Didn't exactly knock me out, you understand it's JUST that this genre of music has been done over so numerous times before. Line-up: Evan Patterson-guitar & vocals, Nick Thieneman-bass & vocals and Geoff Paton-drums. Might appeal to fans of Black Cross, The Melvins, Gang Of Four and Refused.

It's about time. If your a Jesus Lizard fan then thank these Young Widows for spilling your insides out. I'm curious to see if these guys can keep it up. It's flesh off the bone. Give a lick.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest albums i own..., November 20, 2008
This review is from: Settle Down City (Audio CD)
Ex breather resist, this album stems the band into a more "jesus lizard" sound.

excellent guitar/bass riffs, well balanced, fantastically produced and quite catchy in places.

Just think noise rock (birthday party, jesus lizard etc)

one of my fave albums of all time (but i have about 100 of those haha)
