5.0 out of 5 stars A vocalist to watch... December 29, 2011
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I tripped across Kimbra in her duet with Gotye, "Somebody that I used to know." Since I was on youtube, I was watching videos, and saw "Settle Down" as one of the recommended videos. In a word, amazing! Check out her official videos on YouTube.

The register of Kimbra's voice is beautiful, and three of songs in this album rely heavily on her voice not only as the lead melody, but also as a sort of instrument, reminiscent of my favorite works from Bjork and Regina Spektor.

The only song I could take or leave is the last of the four on this album, "Cameo Lover." I think Kimbra really shines when her voice is the focus of the song, and I felt "Cameo Lover" didn't showcase her talent as strongly as the other songs.

Nevertheless, great music and I'm looking forward to hearing more of her in the states!

If you enjoyed her work on "Somebody that I used to know" (in heavy rotation when I'm writing this, December 2011), or like Bjork or Regina Spektor, I strongly recommend checking out both Kimbra and this EP.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blew me away after a single listen! November 29, 2011
Format:MP3 Music
Her music is so fresh. The first good female vocalist I've heard in a long time. She's got amazing soul in her voice and the instrumentals are excellent. The album, from which these song come from, Vows, is great. The songs range in style and border on jazz, bossa nova and light soul pop. I've been listening to "Settle Down" non-stop since I've heard it.

i really have enjoyed Kimbra since i discovered her on YouTube, her album shows that she is much better than the artist Goyte who she has a duet with in "Somebody That I Used to Know"

Like many people, I found her through Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know." One click on her Youtube video, and I was completely absorbed by her voice. I'm just surprised that I never heard her before her feature with Gotye. She's a rising star who we should watch for next few years in the music industry, and I'm pretty sure she will grow big soon.
