I had Age of Empires first and loved it, but something was always missing. I think Settlers III found it. The game is far more complex in terms of setting up your civilization and actually making it work. While some younger players (and even adults who haven't played games of this type before) may have a little difficulty in learning how it all works, it is -worth it- to sit down and learn the in's and out's of Settlers strategy.

It's more than just a game of who can build the biggest army in the least amount of time.

My only complaint was the complete lack of female settlers in the game--as a girl gamer I love to see women represented in these things. I just ordered the Amazon pack from BlueByte and I can't -wait- to get it.

This is a brilliant game. The graphics and gameplay are excellent. Its not just a sort of you have to do this to beable to do this type thing, you actually have to think about what your doing, every decision you make has a direct result. When your first start playing there is a lot to learn, but there is also a vast on-line community of settlers 3 players, and an excellent offical web site, as well as a multitude of others. This game really is brilliant, the in depth attention to detail really brings the game to life.

This game is wonderful,fun and brillient. You dont just go around and kill people like u do in some games. You have to think hard because every thing u build makes a difference. You build 1 thing it will make the next thing work.This game is deffintly One of the best strategy games out there. I highly reccomened this game for You strategy game lovers out there its excellent! I really had a lot of fun with this game 12 years ago, and I wanted to show my seven year old son the game. I can not get it to run in windows 7. (I did get Settlers IV to Run which is almost as good)

I have learned how to create settlers, but there isn't enough information in the enclosed guides to figure out how to turn them into soldiers. Game is quite fun, though.

I think that Settlers 3 is a very good game, and I think it is really fun that you can build your own city.

While this game may be fun for small children (it's verycartoonish)it is incredibly boring for anyone over 7. You just sitaround waiting for things to be built, the game is rather confusing with very little documentation, and it's just nowhere near as good as other games in this genre. I HIGHLY recommend Caesar III or Pharaoh if you want a fun, challenging, and well historically-researched game END
