Amazing multi-purpose chair, September 30, 2011
This review is from: Setu Home Office Desk Task Chair by Herman Miller - 5 Star Base, Graphite with Arms (Office Product)
I work from home at my computer, so I've sat in this chair 40 hours a week for 8 months now. Ergonomically, it's wonderful. The chair contours to support my lower back naturally. This is definitely the high point of the chair's design, and I've not had any back pain since I bought it. It also leans back smoothly, and its spine flexes with you. No adjustments are needed. I think the chair's minimalist design is beautiful. I bought mine without armrests, because I personally dislike armrests on office chairs (they make me feel like I'm locked in to my desk).
It's a comfortable chair, but it isn't a soft chair. The mesh feels akin to sitting on a taut trampoline. The far edges of the chair's seat and back are hard plastic. After extended sitting, the chair begins to feel a bit hard.
Ultimately, this is designed as a "task chair" and I'm using it as my full-time chair. It's a 5-star "task chair," but a 4-star full-time chair.
If I were re-buying, I would buy a chair designed specifically for full-time sitting.
