5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent!
In the French speaking world, Garou is well known. For the English market, he is the best-kept secret. Prior to being discovered by Luc Plamondon for the role Quasimodo in "Notre Dame de Paris" which had made Garou an overnight sensation in France, he was happily singing in Quebec bars. In "Seul avec vou", Garou's interpretations of "You can leave your hat on" and...

GAROU, the vocalist who wants to go by on one name.

Guess that GAROU (meaning WEREWOLF) views himself on the same level as MADONNA. On this CD "GAROU" tries too hard to impress the listener. He over sings (a la MICHAEL BOLTON) almost every note of every song sort of like a werewold whaling at the moon. Plus, it is much too early for him and his label SONY to place a...

In "Seul avec vou", Garou's interpretations of "You can leave your hat on" and "R&B Medley" alone are worth the price. Garou's rough, husky voice has incredible power and range. He is quite adaptable at singing emotional ballads such as "Que L'amour Est Violent", "Je N'attendais Que Vous", "Demande Au Soleil","L'adieu"; R&B songs such as "Unchain My Heart", "Georgia" and "Power of Love" as well as pop tunes such as "Gitan", "Seul", "Au Plaisir De Ton Corps". His unique voice, charisma, naiveté and genuinely down to earth attitude combined together - must be seen to be appreciated. Live shows are simply fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Garou does it again!, January 23, 2002

At first I thought a live album was a bit of a cop-out as most of the songs are on the original Seul album but when I listened to the album I realised that the live songs were very different. Garou responds incredibly well to his audience, including them in every song he does. He is a natural in a live concert and his husky voice carries well over the raucosness of his audience. A few extra songs demonstrate the versatility of this rising star from the raunchy "sex machine" to the quietness of 'Stone'. His trilingual version of Belle is brilliant. A highly recommended album!

Powerful and masculine, yet perfect to express passion. "Seul avec vous" is one of my most listened to CDs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Garou Rocks!, February 22, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Seul Avec Vous (Audio CD)
This CD is a faithful reproduction of Garou live. We saw him in Montreal in late fall 2001 and the show was fantastic!

The CD is about 60% french, 40% english.

His version of Joe Cocker's hit "You Can Leave Your Hat On" should not be missed.

Garou became famous in the French Musical "Notre-Dame-De-Paris" and includes a version of "Belle" where the first verse is sung in French, the second in English, the third in Spanish, and the last with the audience.

The CD was recorded during Garou's 2001 tour in France. It captured the essence of his live performance with bonus sound track "Stone". Great CD!

Garou is amazing! You must be transported to the passionate place he takes you with these songs and THAT voice! I truly wonder if anyone can compare to this man's ability to create the feeling of a gentle savage in all of us. It is passionate music and lyrics delivered by a unique voice in the French-speaking, and sometimes English-speaking, world of his songs. And take a look in the man's blue eyes and be very taken by them.

He over sings (a la MICHAEL BOLTON) almost every note of every song sort of like a werewold whaling at the moon. Plus, it is much too early for him and his label SONY to place a LIVE RECORDING on the market when the artist has only ventured out with one studio CD of original material.

If you're searching to obtain a great FRENCH POP recording, I strongly suggest anything from "SYLVAIN COSETTE" or "BRUNO PELLETIER". Bruno is a currently one of the strongest male francophone vocalist on the planet. He has a tremendous vocal range that blends right into the solid pop/rock material supplied by his label.
