Book Description

October 21, 2002
Dr. David Christopher Meenins is 800 years old and a channeled Longist named Clem, originally from Olduvai in the Larski system. When the exodus began, members of Clem’s caste chose to stay behind for the destruction of their planet in order to strengthen the voice of the Dead while Longists sought their new home world. In race prophecy Clem also became Keeper of the Light. He must find the new resting place, the blue Mountains of Flint, for them. A blood feud has unfolded. Dr. Meenins has enlisted Lady Drasher, Elizabeth Tasgneganz, and Dr. Virgil Augustus Grammario to travel with him to a women-run monastery in the mountains, north of the Caucasus. There he hopes to view a guardian’s ecstasy. The Longists send Linda Deemer to the monastery to help Clem reach full memory. Dr. Grammario reads from the analect of David Shanklen. He was held within their community as a zoo creature, then as a servant to Clem. Dr. Meenins resists his part in the new birth and gets separated from the traveling companions. He regains their company, however, after he has found the blue Mountains of Flint, otherwise known as the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.

More About the Author

Stella Atrium returns with the Dolvia Saga including SufferStone (launch 1/2012) and HeartStone (Coming in Spring 2010).

"I realized I had plenty more to say about the characters after the first book The Goulep was released in 1997. As I developed more scenes for events on Dolvia, there was a need to revise the first story so new influences were included. Spending time with the characters and themes of how women survive conflict, famine, dislocation, and oppression has been an enduring passion. We feel you'll like the expanded edition with a new title SufferStone."

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic story of spiritual bonds between worlds, April 18, 2003
This review is from: Seven Beyond (Paperback)
A lifespan stretching 800 years is nothing exceptional to the ancient Longists in Seven Beyond, a fantastic story of spiritual bonds between worlds and lifeforms. Combining the journey for a new place to call home with the emotion of true friendship, Seven Beyond is an involving, metaphysical, and emotional saga, and documents Stella Atrium as an original and talented writer of science fiction fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rich Story, March 12, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Seven Beyond (Paperback)
This story is told from the point-of-view of more than one narrator, but that works for me. A new trend in movies and even TV (with Boomtown), multiple narrators helped to deepen the future world of SEVEN BEYOND because it allows David Shanklen to relate what happened to the common people in the society. I like the members of the traveling group, and especially the mastiff called the biscuit-eater. I visited the suggested website Glass Bead Game and enjoyed the postings, but recommend you read the novel first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Women Characters, January 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Seven Beyond (Paperback)
Although the hero of this story is Dr. Meenins, two travel companions are great women characters. Lady Drasher is a rich Russian lady with her own life, and Linda Deemer is seven months pregnant. I enjoyed that they relied on their own solutions to problems and didn't play the victim or the simp. Multi-dimensional women are becoming the standard.
