Product Description

In this fast paced thriller, Iraq’s top terrorist makes two promises – a kidnapped American contractor will be executed on a given date, his body dumped in Baghdad’s Green Zone and a major attack will occur in seven days.

Working desperately to find the American and thwart the impending attack is an elite 4-man CIA team which includes an attractive female doctor. But they can only watch helplessly as the terrorist and his masked henchmen behead the American during a live video feed carried on the Internet.

What they don’t know is that one of the masked men is not a terrorist, but completely innocent. He is an Iraqi pharmacist who has infiltrated the group. His only objective – to find his missing fiancée, who the terrorist has also kidnapped.

After the beheading, he is free to go. But little does he know that his girlfriend will bring the American head to the Green Zone, and inside the dead man’s mouth is evidence linking him to the terrorist.

With the clock ticking, the CIA team knows that their only chance to stop the terrorist rests with the pharmacist and his beautiful fiancée. But can they really be trusted?

5.0 out of 5 stars An independent work that should be on a top 10 list, June 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seven Days From Sunday (An MP-5 CIA Thriller, Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
I'm reading my third M.H. Sargent book is as many days and not getting much sleep. Seven Days from Sunday and the other two works from this independent author are all well crafted, have memorable characters and many twist in plot to keep your attention. Like a Grisham novel, Sargent sets the hook early and weaves a story that keeps you turning pages until late in the night. Centered around the Iraq war, the context is fresh with lots of action and intrigue. The author does an excellent job of developing his characters, each with distinct personalities that are consistent in each book. While most modern fiction has a central theme of sex, corruption and ample profanity, it's refreshing to find a good clean read.
Grisham was an unknown when "A Time to Kill" was published. I suggest M.H. Sargent falls in the same category. Only marketing and name recognition stand in the way of this author's works on the NYT best seller list.

What an exciting read this was. I enjoyed the character development in this well edited & formatted book. To me, a sign of a good book is how fast I rushed through it, the faster I read, the more exciting and interesting it is. I finished this one in record time. Thank you for a well-crafted read.

More About the Author

M.H. Sargent is a graduate of UCLA taking a degree in English with one goal in mind - writing.

After stints at several small newspapers in Southern California and free-lancing for various magazines, Sargent wrote several screenplays, which seems to be a prerequisite for writers living in the Los Angeles area. Several were sold, although none produced. However, that provided an income and allowed Sargent to keep writing.

When the U.S. went into Iraq in March, 2003, Sargent was intrigued with the idea, what were the Iraqis thinking? After careful research, the thriller manuscript, SEVEN DAYS FROM SUNDAY, was completed. The manuscript was then reviewed by a retired military intelligence officer and changes were made per his recommendation to assure its authenticity. After that was the usual submissions to literary agents which seemed to produce the same result - great writing, but everyone hates the war, so we're going to pass.

Undaunted, Sargent then decided to go the electronic publishing route via Amazon's Kindle.

SEVEN DAYS FROM SUNDAY gives the unique point of view of both Coalition forces and every day Iraqi people; from romance and hope to fears and frustrations.

This fast paced, plot-driven thriller intertwines the lives of an Iraqi family living in Baghdad, including one member who has befriended Iraq's top terrorist, and four CIA agents determined to capture the terrorist before he makes good on his promise to launch a major attack inside Iraq on the following Sunday.

"My ambition here was simply to show that the Iraqi people are much like anyone else found throughout the world - they want the best for their family, a good job and hope for the future," says Sargent.

The second book in the series, THE SHOT TO DIE FOR, involves the same CIA team and Iraqi family caught up in another adventure.

The third book in the series is OPERATION SPIDER WEB. In this book, the CIA team is now stationed in Afghanistan. When they learn of an upcoming secret meeting of top Taliban in Kandahar City, they want to be a fly on the wall for that meeting in order to learn what the Taliban is planning. Only one problem - they will need the help of a 14-year local boy. A boy that the Taliban will kill if they find out he is working with the Americans. Of course, he has no idea that even if he is able to successfully join the Taliban, his life will still be in danger since Washington wants to take out all the men in the meeting by dropping a bomb on them.

The fourth book in the series, THE YEMEN CONNECTION, has the CIA team in Yemen, where they are trying to stop that country's most formidable terrorist from carrying out a biological attack against Americans.

Book five, ALLIANCE OF EVIL, finds the CIA team in Manzanillo, Mexico where a powerful drug cartel has joined forces with an Arab terrorist group.

Moving away from the CIA series, TOWARD NIGHT'S END, is a murder mystery set during WWII, depicting the honor and patriotism of the Japanese-Americans.

The author currently lives in Arizona. He would love to hear from readers and you can e-mail Sargent at mh.sargent@hotmail.com
