et me start off by saying I am not a golf fan...In fact I am not a sports fan at all. I actually chose this book for review with my husband in mind. So when I received it I let him read it first. It had been some time since my husband had picked up a piece of fiction to read. Over and over he told me that I needed to pick up the book and read it. So when he finished it that is just what I did.

Amazing!! Absolutely amazing!! I was blown away. This is one of the best books that I have ever read - honestly. I think my facebook page was over loaded with quotes as I read it. In fact one of my friends posted: "I see your reading a new book". I could not help but pass along the nuggets of wisdom woven throughout this book!

At one point Johnny asks, "Is it tradition you seek, or truth? Is it excellence, or acceptance? These are the questions of greatness. These are the questions that must be answered if a man is going to lead a revolution." On the face of the statement and in context with the book the reader may think this simply applies to golf - However, upon deeper contemplation and the fact that Johnny's faith is silently woven, like a scarlet thread, throughout his golf instruction - the reader discovers the depth of the statement. In fact - these are the very questions all Christians need to ask themselves. And if it is truth and excellence we seek then we must be prepared to be different.

I will say this story ends with the most powerful presentations of the gospel that I have ever read in a fictional work! I cried my eyes out and even suggested to my husband that we ought to have a cemetery of lies near our church. A physical reminder that we are dead to the old life and risen to a new life in Christ. Absolutely stunning!!

I can not imagine that anyone - especially golfers will not enjoy this book. So many of us define ourselves by how well we score and hit a golf ball. David's story will impact you and how you see the game for ever. If you are searching for more in terms of your faith, you will find it here. I am excited to see the movie and hope they can do the book justice.

I'm actually not a fan of a book that suggests one topic and then covertly grows into something else, which is the case with this book. We start with nothing but golf and by the end of the book we discover that this is all about Jesus Christ, and our walk with God. Perhaps God can use this book to reach into the lives of a few souls that otherwise would never turn back to Him, but it may have the opposite effect on someone who thinks they are reading one thing and end up with another, and permanently running away from God.

The story itself is rather simplistic, and in some way or another we can all relate to being completely broken and needing a spiritual pick me up. That best describes what the intent of this book is.

The golfer who is looking strictly for a fix for their game will be completely turned off by this book, while someone who came looking for golf, and ended up coming to the Lord, will recognize the deeper meaning of it all.

It's tempting enough to try this book on a few golfer friends of mine who otherwise would never ever discuss Jesus Christ. And like the old cliche goes, if your neighbor's house is on fire, would you not try and rescue them? That is what is on the minds of any Christian who cares enough to share this with an unsaved friend or loved one. Hopefully the recipient sees the motivation for what it truly is, love.

I enjoyed this easy-to-read novel very much. In fact, the lessons about golf, life and their spiritual applications caused me to re-read several times. And during each re-read, I found nuggets that I had missed the time before. Well written and very impactful. If you are a golfer, this is a must read. If you aren't a golfer but searching for purpose in your life, this is an important read.

After reading this book I am compelled to let everyone out there know this is one of the most inspiring books I have ever read. Being a golfer myself I looked forward to a good read about the game I so love. What I discovered were 7 concepts that can be applied to your golf game and your life too. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.

Some stories must be written, some must be read. This is both. But don't take my word for it, I challenge you to experience it for yourself.

How can a game have such an effect on a man's soul? How can it not?
It all started with the shot on hole 10. What seemed to end his golf career actually saved it. When he got furious and drove to a ghost town he was led to a split in the road and led him right to Utopia. Most people know of Utopia as a fictional place of perfect living. He thought the perfect would help him so he went to a diner in Utopia and there he noticed a flier to the Link os Utopia. He thought to himself the golf couldn't get out of his head and then a thought came to him. He relized that golf was meant for him, so then he headed to the links to hit golf balls then he met a rancher. The rancher's name was Johnny, he asked the narrator to spend seven days with him in the Links of Utopia.
In those seven days, he leanred about golf, life, and Christ. Golf is looked at differently in many peoples minds, but this book gave me, a well-skilled golfer, a different perspective on golf and life. Many people prefer testimonal books or with football, but this book is more about life and religon than it is golf. Being raised by a professional golfer and also being a golfer, I have never thought of golf this way before. Everytime I go to the course I write S.F.T. on my ball and it gaurentees my round is in the lords hands.
I really liked how the narrator changed Joe's life, his previous playing partner. I am not a frequent reader, but if I get chillbumps reading, which I did, it must be a powerful book. This book can be for anyone. I really enjoyed it and I know that I am a changed person thanks to this book.
