5.0 out of 5 stars Seven Decades of Hits
I highly recommend "Seven Decades of Hits" to every Eddy Arnold fan, and to anyone else who wants to savor some unique, heartfelt singing by one of the most enduring artists of our time. In what may very well be his last effort, Eddy Arnold, as one of the elder statesmen of music, has combined the maturity of his years with a special "way with a song"...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I was very disappointed with the CD. Not the quality of the CD itself but Eddy Arnold's vocals. I guess I thought he would sound the same as he had to me years ago and, of course, he's aged and so has his voice. After first being exposed to his voice in my teens (showing my age) by listening and enjoying his original version of "Cattle Call", this version...

I highly recommend "Seven Decades of Hits" to every Eddy Arnold fan, and to anyone else who wants to savor some unique, heartfelt singing by one of the most enduring artists of our time. In what may very well be his last effort, Eddy Arnold, as one of the elder statesmen of music, has combined the maturity of his years with a special "way with a song" that has always been unique to him. He sings from the heart, without pretense, and interprets a song as noone else does. His old hits are only better now. He has also offered us something new, as always. The first song on the album, "To Life", is a very touching presentation of a man grateful for the long and good life he has enjoyed. He is also willing to share the stage, on this album, with some younger stars, who are very talented. If you want to spend an hour warming your heart with some good songs by a great artist, you can'go wrong with "Seven Decades of Hits" by Eddy Arnold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wayne Linville & Family Loves Eddy Arnold, May 14, 2004

When I was about 10 years old, in 1946, I visited my grandparents in Scottsville, KY. They owned an all night restaurant. My bedroom was next to the restaurant. There's where I first heard Eddy Arnold. Over the years I introduced him to my wife, my children, my grand children and my friends and relatives. They all love Eddy Arnold. I almost have every recording he has ever made and soon I will be able to say all.

Recently I recorded the movie "Hoedown" from the western channel
and I am trying to find his other movie "Fuedin Rythem. If anyone knows how to acquire this movie, I would appreciate hearing from you.

God bless Eddy Arnold as his voice has blessed my family and I over the years.

Wayne Linville & Family

This is Eddy Arnold at his best! Even at the age of 80+ he still has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard...it has not changed one bit from his early beginnings. "To Life" (which I had never heard before) is sung "from the heart" and is a beautiful arrangement that fits Mr. Arnold's voice perfectly. The duets (especially "Have I ToldYou Lately That I Love You" with Carrie-Margaret Frey and "Let It Be Me" with Lisa Carrie) are a perfect blend of harmonies. This CD is a must for any Eddy Arnold fan. I pray this is not his last album! Congratulations Mr. Arnold on your long and prosperous music career and I pray you will do at least one more CD for your millions of fans! Anyone who buys this CD will not be disappointed! Even if you are not an Eddy Arnold fan (which I have been for many years as was my late mother), give it a try...you won't be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This CD, August 21, 2005

Based on a few of these reviews I purchased this CD and I love it. I was not disappointed. I loved Eddy's voice when I was a kid and I still do. It's wonderful he kept his voice in his 80's and still had the power in his singing. Great music.

I was very disappointed with the CD. Not the quality of the CD itself but Eddy Arnold's vocals. I guess I thought he would sound the same as he had to me years ago and, of course, he's aged and so has his voice. After first being exposed to his voice in my teens (showing my age) by listening and enjoying his original version of "Cattle Call", this version turned out to be a very big disappointment. I would try again and order another Eddy Arnold CD but I am a little nervous about trying to find a CD that recaptures Eddy's voice in its glory, especially after reading a glowing review on this CD and being so upset with it once I heard it.

I'm a big fan of Eddy Arnold. But this is not good.
They should have re-recorded his originals and put them on this CD.
I realized he's aged.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed, August 8, 2008

I have been an Eddy Arnold fan for 40 years. When I received this CD and played it, I became depressed. I, Eddy and Eddy's vocals have aged and none of us are as good as we once were. Extremely disappointed in Cattle Call. LeAnn did a good rendition but, I wanted to hear Eddy and his fantastic voice from years gone by. Sadly, you heard Eddy's age in his vocals. This isn't the only song that showed Eddy's vocals have deteriorated, most of the songs do. Eddy Arnold will always be one of my favorite singers but, not on this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars EDDY ARNOLD, August 23, 2007
This review is from: Seven Decades Of Hits (Audio CD)
I think Eddy Arnold is one of the greatest singers I have ever heard. I can remember his beautiful voice coming over the radio with The Cattle Call. This CD takes me back to that time. A time when Cowboys were Kings and the Grand Ole Opry was a must listen to on Saturday. His voice can still bring back memories of sitting in the living room listening to the Grand Ole Opry on the radio. His songs are soft, lovely, and always telling a story. If you like good music then you will Love Eddy Arnold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still mellow & smooth, September 6, 2008
This review is from: Seven Decades Of Hits (Audio CD)
This CD contains some of Eddy Arnold's top hits over his vast career. His voice is warm, rich & mellow. He has 2 lady guest vocalists that were nice additions; however, one of them did a duet to "Cattle Call" that just wasn't the same as Eddy's original. I did not care for the multi-versed "Happy Birthday", but not enough to slight this wonderful CD.

I really like Eddie Arnold but, very disapointed in this collection of songs......His version of "Shenandoah" (Across the Wide Missouri) is without a doubt, the worst I've ever heard.
