In this illuminating book, maverick philosopher Joe Landwehr traces a fascinating history of ideas about the soul. Using the goddess Inanna's passage through seven gates as a metaphor, the author explores the barriers to a true understanding of soul erected by religion, philosophy, science and psychology. Along the way, he outlines a poetic approach to astrology that transcends these barriers and points the way into an intimate relationship to the soul, unique to each individual. Discover how to connect with the deepest, wisest part of yourself, while learning why we have come to think about ourselves the way that we have, over the course of six millennia.
The astrology that I weave into the pages of my books is not that found in horoscope columns in your daily newspaper or in the many astrological cookbooks readily available at your local metaphysical bookstore.
It is rather a poetic way of observing the world and our place within it that provides an experiential basis for a satisfying relationship to soul and a soulful life - a way of relating to the world I call astropoetics.
Having studied astrology for nearly 40 years now, I hold a special appreciation for its value as a reflective language of soul, as outlined in my first book, The Seven Gates of Soul.
The essence of the astrological premise - that there is a correlation between the cosmic order mirrored by the heavens and what happens on earth - lies very much at the heart of the self-reflective journey.
It is this quest for meaning and purpose that I continue to explore in my writing. Most of my books are intended to be accessible and thought-provoking to non-astrologers as well as those with some background in astrology.
What matters most to me in the transition from idea to finished book is the relationship I have with students and readers who resonate with my words. So, please feel welcome to contact me, and to share your own thoughts.
