5.0 out of 5 stars Great erotica
Lily Pond really set the stage for the blooming market of solid literary erotica in America. The Yellow Silk anthologies are stunningly original and years before their time. I love the opening story of Seven Hundred Kisses--a man takes care of a woman's varied and complicated farm menagerie while she's away on a business trip. It's not graphic (though many stories and...

2.0 out of 5 stars Dated and not terribly erotic, poetry better than stories
I was looking for erotica to illustrate a point to a friend after a discussion about sex. I ordered this book and can't say it was my idea of erotic and I found the contents to be uneven. Delta of Venus and Little Birds are more my idea of erotic literature. You could get more out of reading one of Nancy Friday's books such as My Secret Garden: Women's Sexual Fantasies...

This review is from: Seven Hundred Kisses: A Yellow Silk Book of Erotic Writing (Paperback)
It's not graphic (though many stories and poems in this anthology are) but it exemplifies how love makes us grow and change in ways we never expected. These stories and poems are quirky, hot, and well-written. Pond has a keen sense of the adventurous and the genuine and this book is well worth the price of admission.

This review is from: Seven Hundred Kisses: A Yellow Silk Book of Erotic Writing (Paperback)
I was looking for erotica to illustrate a point to a friend after a discussion about sex. I ordered this book and can't say it was my idea of erotic and I found the contents to be uneven. Delta of Venus and Little Birds are more my idea of erotic literature. You could get more out of reading one of Nancy Friday's books such as My Secret Garden: Women's Sexual Fantasies even though they are not literature and are collections of women's sexual fantasies. I found the poetry in Seven Hundred Kisses better and more sensual/erotic than the stories overall. Some of the stories were more like excerpts out of mediocre romance novels. The copyright is from 1997 and perhaps it is just that the material is too dated for today's audience. A couple of the stories were good, but I am sure there are better materials out there. I ended up writing my own story to make my point and my friend loved it. Only goes to show you, it is true what they say, the mind is the biggest sex organ.
