Wow! This is a very touching movie about how a man(Will Smith) so intelligent, inspired, kind (wanting to make up for his huge error)and on the vierge of marriage makes the biggest mistake of his entire life. In his excitement to get home to his fiancee, he leaves his job stating, "I have a very hungry woman waiting at home" he speeds home to her. She is upset because he is late as usual to get home and he makes it up to her by giving her her new diamond engagement ring. They leave for dinner and being all excited about the ring they both are gazing at it(she wants to know if it is the cracking kind) as they go down the highway until the heartbreaker happens(just as he says he paid more for the non-cracking kind), they meet a vehicle coming from the other lane and the ensuing happens, the Crash. Killing 7 people in the crash including his fiance is more than he can bare. He decides to embark on helping 7 unknown people(to him) that desperately need help knowing that he will end his life. What a story. Tragically inspired to get some redemption, he gives up his home, his own needs, his internal and external body parts to save those who need them. In the end, he gives up his heart to his new found love(Rosario Dawson) only for her to meet a man that he gives his eyes to. What a tearjerker!! A MUST SEE!!

This is an exceptional and thoughtful movie. It deals in an off-the-norm manner with the human condition, is fresh and not clichéd.

5.0 out of 5 stars There is no greater love than to lay down your life for..., June 1, 2011

This is a movie of love and faith, without saying so. This is a thrill-ride and a curl up with a pillow movie sure to keep you in a state of perpetual loving and crying for the many individuals in this movie--except maybe the motel manager. He adds some wry humor where it is needed. This movie surely should and will become a classic for years to come. Not preachy, but certainly many will say, 'Were this to happen to me, could I give my Seven Pounds of Flesh?'
Will Smith does to Seven Pounds with all its hurting people, what he did so humbly, and beautifully in all the trials he overcame in The Pursuit of Happiness. Oh that I could overcome my little trial as valently for real, as Will Smith has used the screen to teach and to love.
