4.0 out of 5 stars One of their best!!, December 30, 2001

"thundermeetsl" (CORDOVA, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Seven (Reis) (Audio CD)
I honestly believe that these guys cannot make a bad cd. The production on this one is great. It is more polished than previous albums and not as raw but it has a 'freshness' to it that was very welcome to my ears.

There are some very good songs on this cd as can be expected by this band. The opening song 'Wheels' is one that you can get hooked on with the first listen. '5 Smiles Away' has a Beatles influence that works very well with the song. You also have the nice ballad 'You And I' that shows a bit more of the vocal talent of Donnie Vie. There is also a cool John Lennon cover on this cd with the song 'Jealous Guy' that fits in great for this album.

I highly recommned this album to any fan of this band or those who like Cheap Trick,The Beatles,or great music in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Chicago band with intense appeal..., July 16, 2000
This review is from: Seven (Audio CD)
I'm a Chicago-girl who has grown up listening to Enuff Z Nuff. There has never been a band so likeable, or so unforgettable. Seven is such a warm and appealing ablum; it is, by far, EZN's best since (the unequivocal) Strength album. Although much of this album is comprised of previously unreleased material from EZN's archives, the songs show a true modern flair due to the remastering and mixing. Additionally, Donnie Vie's vocals display an exceptional solidness that previous albums were lacking; Donnie has the most unique voice in the business and he really knows how to use it. Songs like "It's No Good" and the heartbreaking "We Don't Have To Be Friends" not only have Donnie singing in a clear train of emotion, but bring out more of Chip Z Nuff's backing vocals. The effect is unforgettable. As well, songs like "So Sad To See You" and the cover of "I won't Let Yo Go" thrive on that charismatic EZN groove.

Vie and Z Nuff have been creating some of the most heartfelt and sparkling songs out there, reminding a person that rock music is more about emotion and creativity than anything else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lush pop/rock ballads coupled with infectious grooves, January 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Seven (Audio CD)
The songwriting genius of Chip Z'Nuff and Donnie Vie comes through with a vengence again and again on this record. From the catchy and upbeat acoustic track "It's No Good," to the powerful, guitar driven crunch of "So Sad to See You," and the emotionally drenched ballads "Downhill" and "We Don't Have to Be Friends," this record takes the listener on a musical roller coaster of melodic sensibility, summed up appropriately enough by the fun yet laid back opening track "Wheels." The album masterfully shows off the band's trademark harmonies led by Vie's rich and intense vocals. Here is a perfect example of the genuine talent that lies beneath the glam rock image that many people associate with the band who only know them from their 1989 hit "Fly High Michelle," with songs like "On My Way Back Home" and "Still Have Tonight" to prove it.
