5.0 out of 5 stars Contains RARE Never Stop (single version), September 2, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seven Seas: The Platinum Collection (Audio CD)
Dear EATB fans - buy a used copy of this CD before they all sell out!! It is an excellent "best of" collection with a very tasteful ordering of songs. But the biggest surprise is that it contains the orignal 7" single version of the song "Never Stop". All other CD compliations and boxed sets (to my knowledge) contain the 12" discotheque version, which is a great mix of the song. But for purist like me, we want to own all the Bunnymen original 7" single versions on CD. Until Seven Seas: The Platinum Collection, the only two single versions not available on CD were Broke My Neck (7" version) and Never Stop (7" version). Well, you can now scratch Never Stop off your list since this CD contains the orignal single 7" version. The intro on this single version is significantly different from the discotheque version you all know, with the use of Xylophones instead of strings. It is the same intro the Bunnymen use in concert if you've ever seen them live. I like the feel of the 7" version better than the discotheque version even though it is shorter in length.

This CD is OUT OF PRINT - and not many used ones are being offered on Amazon, so act quickly if you want to own the original 7" single version of "Never Stop". I'm still looking to find the single version of "Broke My Neck" if anyone knows where to find it. The only other Bunnymen song versions that have not appeared on CD (again, to my knowledge) are: Lips Like Sugar (Dub Version) and Bedbugs & Ballyhoo (Club Mix). Both were issued on the 12" LP's but have not appeared on any CD compilation.

This is a great CD - even though you probably already own all of the songs (except Never Stop as I have described). The order of the songs is better than any homemade mix I've come up with, and the sound quality is awesome. But because this CD contains the very rare 7" version of "Never Stop" - it is a priceless collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection, April 15, 2006

This is a pretty good collection of some of the Bunnymens best songs. The only odd thing about the collection is it's missing the killing moon. However it does have Lips like Sugar, Never Stop, A Promise, and quite a few other gems. Did I mention it does have Lips like sugar ;). Those who are new to the game should either grab this disc or Ocean Rain to get a good idea of what to expect from this great band. I wish it had their cover of People Are strange on it though.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT LISTENING EXPERIENCE, October 8, 2006
This review is from: Seven Seas: The Platinum Collection (Audio CD)
I have been on 80s music kick lately, not too inspired by what I am hearing right now and I just happened to snap this up by a previous reviewer's recommendation. There is not a bad song in the whole bunch. I highly recommend this CD. Very enjoyable indeed!
