Seven weeks to naturally slim eating habits.,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Seven Secrets of Slim People (Mass Market Paperback)
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a real solution to struggles with their weight. Whether you are slim and constanly fighting to stay there, or morbidly obese, this is a viable solution. Reading "7 Secrets", you'll learn how and why you'll get fatter by dieting. My 'naturally slim' friends have verified that the 'secrets' revealed in the book are how they actually eat and percieve food. What I especially like about this book is the work sheets for each day of the seven weeks of the program. Worksheets make it very easy to transform the "7 Secrets" into your everyday life. I read the book cover to cover before beginning the worksheets and I recommend that you do too. The difference it is making in my life and my relationship with food is amazing. I have learned to eat food that makes me feel good, as a result, I am eating healthier and far less. I have learned to recognize when a food makes me feel bad so I can avoid it. It is psychologically freeing to be able to eat whatever you want, whenever you want it. I look and feel better than I have in 9 years and the weight is falling off effortlessly. The best part is, there is no dieting. You just have to be willing to relearn everything you thought about eating.

STOP DIETING FOREVER...,
By Steven (Midwest- USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Seven Secrets of Slim People (Mass Market Paperback)
The concept of stopping dieting to lose weight has interested me since reading several books by Geneen Roth. It wasn't until I happened onto this book that I once again considered that diets have made me fat. Being at my all time heaviest weight, the thought of going on another diet seemed dreadful. I have read nearly every diet concept that has been out in the past 15 years and tried most. They were all somewhat successful for a while. I would lose weight, get more comfortable with myself and return right back to eating the forbidden foods I liked. I purchased 'The 7 Secrets of Slim People' and read it in one evening. It is very well written & enjoyable to read. The book was amazing and I finally feel free in life to enjoy food and stop when I am satisfied. The author acknowledges all aspects of food, physical, emotional and pleasure. This is the first book I have ever read on eating that actually encourages you to enjoy eating. I have stopped dieting, learned to eat between hungry and satisfied as taught in this book and lost 25 lbs in just two weeks. I have eaten all the foods I love. The concepts in this book make sense. BUY THIS BOOK! It will change you life and free you from the torture of dieting. STOP DIETING AND HARMING YOURSELF.

Finally!--the answer right under your nose...,

This review is from: The Seven Secrets of Slim People (Mass Market Paperback)
This book has helped me take back my life. I used to spend my days counting calories and fat grams, all the while suppressing my hunger with bottles and bottles of diet soda, until I bought this book, (actually thinking it was another set of dieting secrets). But boy, did it knock a lot of sense back into me! I knew "the experts" would always come up with more "diet revolutions"...cut the carbs, trap the fat with this pill, etc., but this book taught me why no matter how much willpower I thought I had, I would not be healthy, slim, and happy(yes, very important!) unless I ate NATURALLY...the way we're meant to eat. I'd always wondered how some people ate what they liked, as much as they wanted and still stayed so slim. No, not bulimia...they simply ate as their bodies (not their minds) saw fit. And this is what the book teaches you how to do. Each page is easy to understand and no longer than about a paragraph. No anecdotes, no calorie charts, no meal plans. You let nature(your body) tell you what to eat and how much. In addition, this book helped me climb out of the pit of waif-like body ideals. I've read this book twice--it's that easy!--and was already feeling better and slimmer in the first week off diet. One weak point about this book, though, is that it doesn't address well enough the issue of getting in all of one's daily nutrition with the natural way of eating. You might take a vitamin supplement to be on the safe side. Other than that, I highly recommend this book to chronic/potential dieters.

Would give it ten stars if I could...,

I have been following this plan for about six weeks now and am so grateful to have stumbled upon this book. I was miserable about the weight I had gained and dissatisfied w/various diets I had tried. I am now able to eat WHATEVER I want and have been steadily losing 1-2 lbs per week. This plan is sane, easy and enjoyable. Sounds too good to be true, but it's not! I am enjoying guilt-free eating for the first time in some years. Highly recommended for anyone who wants an easy, fun way to lose weight.

Couldn't wait to get home...,

I heard about this book on the radio and knew I had to read it. I went to my local bookstore/coffee shop and bought it. I decided to read a few chapters while I enjoyed a cup of (would you believe) mocha frappucino. I simply couldn't put it down. (The book, that is!) I read the entire thing right there in the store. It was riveting, informative, interesting, and what was to become life changing.

Deceptively Simple,

It feels too easy to be true but once you apply the secrets amazing things happen. I heard about this book on this site and thought it was pretty interesting and best of all it went along with a notion I've always had, your body knows how to maintain your perfect weight, if you listen to it.
I started following the principles over a month ago and I am absolutely amazed to find I've lost more than ten pounds and a dress, maybe even two because my clothes are pretty loose. Another thing that amazed me was how little I can eat! The first couple weeks were awkward to me because I'd dish out a meal based on habits then I started eating only when I was hungry and stopped when I was not hungry and sometimes that turned out to be a small piece of chicken with a few bites of vegetables and even less if I have a beverage. It took a little time to get accustomed to that but quickly I realized how much better I felt throughout the day. I was less tired, guiltless and I still ate exactly what I wanted. I learned that my body craved food about every two and a half hours, I learned to separate thrist from hunger, listening to my body I actually crave healthier foods and most important is I stopped obsessing over food. I highly recommend this book because with a little patience you'll see good things happen to your body too...

Helps you to look at WHY you overeat ....,
By
This review is from: The Seven Secrets of Slim People (Mass Market Paperback)
This is not a diet book -- now that said, it may help you loose weight better than any diet you have ever been on! This book helps you to examine your relationship with food. It also helps you to understand why most diets fail and why many of us regain weight we lose on a diet, if we are lucky enough to lose weight on a restrictive diet at all. Any diet can be successful if you stay on it, but what happens after you stop dieting? This book also helps you examine why you overeat in the first place. It helps you see how you can still eat in moderation and live a normal life while getting to the size you want to be! No, this is not a diet, but it may very well revolutionize the way you see yourself and your relationship with food. This little book can change your life.

Good advice, dumbed-down,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Seven Secrets of Slim People (Mass Market Paperback)
This book provides good, constructive facts and advice on overcoming overeating without dieting, but it is presented entirely in sound bites. Every page spread has a list of bullet points on the left side and a single, large-font pull quote on the right side. It could very easily be turned into a massive PowerPoint file.
Depending on who you are, this could be just what you need. If you're in a hurry, or don't like to read, or need some quick inspiration, it could be great. If you don't mind reading and thinking, or you like self-help books that persuade rather than preach, or you're looking for "real-life" anecdotes to help inspire you, this might not be your cup of tea. If you're in the latter category, I recommend "Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program That Works" over this book.

Deprogram Yourself w/ This Book,
By BookLover (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Seven Secrets of Slim People (Mass Market Paperback)
The diet and fitness industry will have you believe that you need to go on the latest "hot" diet in order to loose weight, and it promises to change your life: look sexier, have more energy, lose inches, etc. Until the next fad diet comes around and promises the same thing. Currently, the Low-Carb diets are all the rage, and in the 90's it was all about Low-Fat diets. Then there's the high protien diets, the special food combination diets, the shake diets, then come the dangerous diet pills and powders...The list goes on and on. When you really think about it, if these diets truly worked like they claim to do, then the obesity rate in the US would not be what it is today (and experts are now saying that the obesity could rise up to 40% in 5 years!). This country is obsessed about being thin, which is painfully obvious: just turn on the tv and at any time there's another infomercial offering the latest weight loss gadget or diet plan. Yet, this country is the fattest one on Earth!
Enter: The Seven Secrets of Slim People. This book, if read with an open mind and heart will change your life and the way you look at food and diets forever. In a simple and common sense manner, it describes the way the body works and teaches the reader how to be able to be friends with your body instead of being it's "enemy", and listen to your body's natural signals of hunger, which for many people have been distorted. It goes on to explain why this distortion can lead to overeating. It explains how to recognize your body's "full button" so you will know when you've had enough to eat. It has very simple but powerful exercises to be done each week and will allow the reader to slowly implement them as habits, and the reader will soon do these things automatically, and allow their body to lose the excess weight naturally. Forget DIETS, counting calories, carbs, and fat grams, and the overall OBSESSION with food! The beauty of it is that you can ENJOY food GUILT FREE and eat whatever you want. The diet industry will have you believe you have to follow their latest diet to lose weight, and any diet will cause you to lose weight BUT as soon as you come off it, the pounds will come back and then some more. FOOD IS NOT THE ENEMY. You can eat anything you want as long as you know WHEN and HOW to eat!!!! This book is helping me deprogram myself from all the media hype and brainwashing that has caused me to go on stupid diets that have only hurt my body, not NOURISHED it. I have started losing pounds and the best thing is that there is no deprivation WHATSOEVER. I wish that if you are reading this review, to get your hands on this book and free yourself from the bondage of diets for good.

This review is from: The Seven Secrets of Slim People (Mass Market Paperback)
I can't say enough great things about this book and the eating program it contains. I lost 30 pounds over three years ago and it's still off. And I eat anything I want. Really! The biggest secret is to know WHEN to eat and WHEN to stop eating. If you can master that, it really doesn't matter WHAT you eat. And this program helps you understand those principles and apply them to your life.Try it yourself and see! |
