I've recently moved from Australia to the U.S. with several devices that are 220V. I first bought a smaller device from eBay to use for my desktop computer (which doesn't have 110-220V for some reason), but it didn't work. I've bought this device and it worked very well. I've had it for over a month now and I tested it with my desktop PC, TV, DVD player, video player and my wife's GHD (hair stuff - a heating device). It works very well, given the number of devices I have I will order two more.
The good thing is that if I move back to Australia, I can re-use the same device to get the 110V devices I bought from here to work in Australia.

I ordered this transformer when we moved back to the States from a couple years in Hong Kong and Australia, so I could used some of the electronic equipment I'd purchased there. A year later, this little transformer-that-could is still plugging merrily away in support of a 5-slot 220V power strip and the several gadgets we have plugged into it. It doesn't overheat and has yet to blow its internal fuse. Highly recommended.

Good well built product - no instructions required.,
This review is from: Seven Star Voltage Converter 220/240-110/120V 500 Watts (Personal Computers)
Arrived exactly as it said on the tin, on time and in prefect working order. I had my electric piano, lava lamp and a few other items shipped over from the UK to my apartment in California and all of them worked perfectly when I plugged them into this transformer. No noise and very very little heat generated even after many hours of it being in constant use.
Other people's comments seem harsh. The box was indeed bashed up a little, but anyone who knows anything about how heavy duty electrical items are stored should expect this, the item itself worked wonderfully and without any physical blemishes whatsoever. Also for people complaining that there are no instructions, quite frankly, if you need instructions with this then you dont deserve to own anything worthy of plugging into it in the first place. 4 stars only, mainly because I`m mean, and to get 5 stars from me it would have had to arrive in the arms of a bikini clad Brazilian model - those UPS guys just dont do it for me.

Right voltage everywhere in the world!,

Working perfectly fine, easy installation and fully usable all around the world, though a bit heavy for travelling with few luggage. You can use European devices (220V) in the US (110V) and vice versa by just switching the plugs. Great!

Have been using it for a couple weeks, and it's up to the expectation.
Minor issues: It's relatively heavy and you need to be careful about 'up and down' directions.

Phew! My hair straighteners (flat iron) work again.,
This review is from: Seven Star Voltage Converter 220/240-110/120V 500 Watts (Personal Computers)
I bought this so I could use UK appliances in the USA. I only use it for my GHD hair straighteners and my Kitchen Aid blender. It hums and vibrates when I use it for my straighteners which is probably a 'bad thing' but they get hot and my hair gets straight. It probably hums when I use the blender too, but the blender is louder. It's very heavy for its size, but I carry it between the kitchen and bathroom regularly and it's fine.
It arrived quickly and was very well-packaged. The plug doesn't fit the US mains but it comes with an adapter. I think it would enable US appliances to work in the UK with the correct plug adapters but I haven't tried that yet. Overall I am very happy with this product, but slightly nervous of the humming and whether this means it is dangerous. Hopefully someone will post a comment to put my mind at ease.

Neither the european style plug on the cable coming out of the box nor the adapter for US style plugs had a "third" pin for the case ground. Therefore the metal transfomer box and whatever you are electrifying (likely yourself with this POJ) will not have a case ground, a major safety issue. Because it is truly unsafe to use as is I can not give this a low enough rating. I'm not an electrician, but I've got a minor in electronics and have worked under an electrician in the past and I can tell you it is truly scary to have an AC transformer in an ungrounded metal box. There is a reason why this device is not UL approved, and that is because it IS NOT SAFE.
So I cut the cable and installed a 3 prong plug and it took a 375 watt load for about 5 hours before the whole place smelled of ozone and the case was too hot to touch. I tossed it in the trash and bought something UL listed and made in the USA.

This works very well. It does not buzz or give off heat. It is simple to use. It is a little larger than I expected. Anyone thinking about ordering a transformer like this should undertand that Watts equals volts multiplied by amps. You need to know what size transformer to get so it has enough power to do what you want to do.

I had to take a guess on this because I have never before needed to regulate voltage. I needed to get something to enable me to use my acoustic guitar amplifier which I brought over from the UK to the USA. I was very impressed with the little time it took to arrive (well before its scheduled estimated time). It works a treat! It was very simple to set up. The instruction booklet is definitely for the minimalist but the instrument itself is so straightforward...self evident. A very satisfying and pleasing acquisition. The price was good and the packaging very solid and secure.
