Editorial Reviews

Review

"Drs. Zentall and Goldstein have done a tremendous service for all families with school-age children, and especially for those for whom school homework time has become an incessant battlefield with their children. The techniques here are well-grounded in the scientific research and relatively easy to implement. Indeed, the methods concentrate heavily on incentives, approval, appreciation, and respect for children and their level of academic abilities and study-skills. This is a truly useful compendium of effective methods for making homework time effective, successful, and enjoyable." -- Russell A. Barkley, Ph.D., Director of Psychology, Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology University of Massachusetts Medical School

"Seven Steps to Homework Success" provides parents with useful methods for helping their children to achieve at higher levels in school. I enthusiastically recommend it!" -- Lynn Clark, Ph.D.

"The homework battles are fought in thousands of kitchens throughout America every weekday eveningFinally, an effective and pragmatic guidebook has arrived to help parents in this struggle" -- Richard D. Lavoie, M.Ed., Executive Director of Riverview School

5.0 out of 5 stars A treasure trove of homework strategies., June 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Seven Steps to Homework Success: A Family Guide to Solving Common Homework Problems (Paperback)
I am sure this will be the most useful book I have purchased in years. Homework time at our house has always been a two hour nightly ordeal, complete with crying, screaming and lots of drama. Seven Steps to Homework Success contains just the strategies I have needed to understand to help my child learn to do homework on his own. I'm sure this book will make a big difference for our family and in my child's schoolwork.

5.0 out of 5 stars I highly recommend this book!, September 18, 1999

This review is from: Seven Steps to Homework Success: A Family Guide to Solving Common Homework Problems (Paperback)
I wish I had this book when my older daughter was in elementary school. It would have saved us a lot of headaches. The authors present a very good argument for the importance of homework and give concrete directions for parents to follow which teaches children how to do homework on their own. We made a "Learning Station" for our child as the book suggests and my son loves it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Information, May 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Seven Steps to Homework Success: A Family Guide to Solving Common Homework Problems (Paperback)
I have been an educator and a parent for over thirty years. I have read many printed documents on homework issues. This book has excellent information and is the best book I have seen so far on the issue. I would recommend it to anyone looking for information and/or help in assisting children and/or teachers with the homework issues we face today.

This book would be an excellent source for parents, teachers and/or administrators. I would hope to find it in every public and school library in the country.
