5.0 out of 5 stars Great action orchestral CD!, February 20, 2009
Simply, I downloaded an MP3 version of this CD on a whim (looking for soundtracks for my home videos), and it was so impressive I had to buy the movie to see if it matched the majesty and drama of the music. The soundtrack is what ended up making the movie for me. I also bought the actual CD, as the 320kbt MP3 files just don't do the music itself enough justice -- and it was even better!

Apparently, Kenji Kawai is a well-known soundtrack composer in Japan, and has many other movie credits, as well as a couple of blockbuster video game soundtracks (a little known hidden gem in the era of modern classical music).

By Track:
#1 Ode to the Seven Swords - short clip of main theme
#2 Massacre Rhapsody - dark, suspenseful
#3 Flute in Danger - dark, intense
#4 Woman from Yonder - introspective
#5 Fire From Heaven
#6 Trial and Conquest - cautious, suspenseful
#7 The Attack Aftermath - brooding, building to climax
#8 In Search of Beauty in Life - Airy, turning sharp
#9 Encounter at the Shrine - good attack fight sequence
#10 Going Home/Ambush in the Mist
#11 Setting the Horses Free - solemn
#12 Death of Green Pearl - suspenseful
#13 To Hell and Back - short sharp interlude
#14 The Spirits of the Swords - quiet, building to great fight sequence
#15 The Final Sword Battle - continuance of scene from #14, more sharp
#16 Children at Dawn - uplifting, majestic, positive, cinematic
#17 Seven Swords Victory - end credits, modified version of #14

Mysterius, epic and full of "sonic" glory soundtrack!
Unusual and very mysterius film atmosphere, with very good music.
The score "matches" excellent with the film.
Very good composer.
Is it an "action" film? Yes, there is plenty of action!
If you like chinese scores with epic music-"structure", this one will not disappoint you as well.
Number 7 is a Holy number!
The 7 swords film + the soundtrack aren't Holy, that's for sure.... but both DVD + CD is a must for your music and video collection!
