5.0 out of 5 stars ...THE UNCOLA!!!, July 7, 2004
This review is from: Seven Up (Audio CD)
Baby Mammoth has become one of my favorite groups in a short period of time...winning me over with their "Octo Muck" CD on the Water Music record label, not to mention the coutless contributions they've made to nearly every chillout album out there! Well, I got "Seven Up" and now I think I'm in love with these guys! Their style is so funky and cool that you can't help but to dig them! I played "Seven Up" at work--I'm one of the unfortunate people who now dwells in a cubicle and has to play all my music extremely low as to not disturb anyone--that notwithstanding, when I popped this one in folks were like: "Turn that up, whoever that is"! Baby Mammoth has a very accessible sound that will appeal to everyone. One can't pigeonhole their music because they have a style of their own!Folks say Baby Mammoth are the "chillout kings", but damn if I don't wanna party everytime I hear their stuff. Regardless, this is a strong CD that I'm sure I'll be playing for years to come. Highly Recommended!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Seven Up = Seven Stars, November 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Seven Up (Audio CD)
Pork Recordings is easily Humberside's greatest export. For the last ten years, the label has released some of the most original downtempo music in Britain (if not the world). Baby Mammoth a.k.a Mark Blissenden and Andrew Burdall met at Spiral Groove Records in Hull, the rest as we say is history.
The real strength of Baby Mammoth's 'Seven Up' is it's ability to be more than just static, more than just an accompaniment to horizontal dreaming. Sharing its lush textures and emphasis on musicality, the duo's sound is akin to deep house, albeit in a vat of treacle. It moves, undoubtedly, but its own languorous pace completely oblivious to the world outside.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thumbs Up for Seven Up, September 18, 2006
This review is from: Seven Up (Audio CD)
Baby Mammoth is one of those groups whose music can get under your skin and stick with you. I got my first taste of this group listening to Groove Salad on the SOMA FM Internet streams (thanks Rusty Hodge!!) and I was hooked. If you listen to Groove Salad regularly, you'll recognize every track on this album - and they're all good. Each one has it's own style and Baby Mammoth blends them together and makes an album that you can either crank up and groove to - with tunes like "And I'll See You" or "Lazy" - or just turn down and chill with "Pink Elephants". Overall, this album is a winner and I would recommend it as a good introduction into the irresistable musical style of Baby Mammoth.
