5.0 out of 5 stars DANGEROUS
It's possible you might not be able to go 5 minutes without shouting out lyrics as though you have tourette's syndrom and when you're not doing that you're almost surely trying imitate their guitar riffs. To top it off Matt Davies is quite possibly the best singer out there next to Boy Sets Fire's Nathan Gray. If you don't want to pay for their import CD then this is your...

3.0 out of 5 stars Funeral For A Friend "Seven Ways To Scream Your Name"
"Seven Ways To Scream Your Name" is the first U.S. release from Funeral For A Friend, from the U.K. The songs are taken from three U.K. releases. It is hard to describe FFAF's genre because they touch on a lot of different areas. Some of the songs have a hardcore feel, while others have a really soft emo style to them. Fans of either hardcore or emo could get...

To top it off Matt Davies is quite possibly the best singer out there next to Boy Sets Fire's Nathan Gray. If you don't want to pay for their import CD then this is your best alternative. There is little negative to say about this cd, mostly because this is about as good as music gets. (That is not an overstatement, at least based on my tastes)

4.0 out of 5 stars A bold effort, but comes up a bit short., May 16, 2004
This review is from: Seven Ways to Scream Your Name (Audio CD)
1. 10:45 Amsterdam conversation...(8) Pretty good song, starts of with a Mudvayne-esque riff. Good scream and drive, but I feel it loses it when it gets to the chorus. Somewhat repetitive.

2. Red is the new black...(10/10) A very good song, no doubt. A bit long, however. Good singing, although he kind of sounds like Trapt.

3. Art of American Football...(9/10) Yeah, now this is better. A pretty hard song, to make up for #1. Don't know much to say, except it pounds.

4. Getaway Plan...(9/10) Sounds so much like Glassjaw sometimes it's scary. I think it said he was doing a Daryl tribute or something? Good tribute.

5. This years most open heartbreak...(9/10) A good song, with a very good chorus. It's just not...Awesome. I don't know how to explain.

6. Kiss and make up...(8) Sounds a lot like the new Further Seems Forever, with a bit more screaming. Good guitar parts though, and an emotional chorus.

7. Escape artists never die...(9/10) Good song, good middle, good everything, except for how long it takes to end. Too long.

This E.P. is as long as some bands' full length, so I don't know if that's good or bad. I guess it depends with each person. It's pretty good, but not of of screamo's best. Check it it out before purchase.

OVERALL RATING: 88/100 B+

3.0 out of 5 stars Funeral For A Friend "Seven Ways To Scream Your Name", April 6, 2004

Fans of either hardcore or emo could get into the band in my opinon. Having said all that, let me get to the album. Though this is not an amazing album, it's not too bad. Some of the songs (namely "The Art Of American Football") kind of drag a little. There are some great songs, however, like "Red Is The New Black" and "This Year's Most Open Heartbreak."

Rating: Three stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars YOU NEED TO REALLY LISTEN, December 20, 2003

You can't judge this CD by the samples given. It's way better than you think. Funeral for a Friend is the best band I've heard in a while next to Saosin. My favorite song on Seven Ways to Scream You Name is This Years Most Open Heartbreak. It's pretty emotional with some awesome punk outbursts.

This cd is absolutely amazing top quality Welsh rock. 10:45 Amsterdam Conversation is the best song on here mixing rough guitar with sweet vocals. There are no weak links on this cd it is thoroughly worth it and they are a fantastic band live. The song i least like is The Getaway Plan, although it is still a good song it is over shadowed by the other material on the album. A band for all to love. All people must buy this cd make FFAF huge across the world!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Their best to date, November 16, 2005
This review is from: Seven Ways to Scream Your Name (Audio CD)
FFAF's recent albums are definately less aggressive than this, which
I think has been detrimental to their popularity/respect in the indie scene, going off on a tangent sorry. Every song on Seven Ways... is awsome. Great riffs, melody, rythm, and at times good lyrics. It was a mistake to re-record a lot of the songs on this album for later releases, the sound of Seven Ways... was what they should of stuck with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seven Songs Five Stars, August 5, 2005
This review is from: Seven Ways to Scream Your Name (Audio CD)
Funeral for a Friend's "Seven ways to Scream Your Name" is a masterpiece. That's it, a masterpiece, that you must check out right now. Also it's an EP. Every song is awesome but Red is the New Black, Escape artist Never Die, Kiss and Makeup, and Getaway Plan are the better of the seven songs. I do not regret spending money on this CD, neither will you.

I heard "The Art Of American Football" (which in my opinion is the best song on the EP) on a local radio station in L.A and was instantly hooked. Pick it up today, you wont be sorry...

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece, November 1, 2004
This review is from: Seven Ways to Scream Your Name (Audio CD)
This EP is brilliant, other bands which almost compare are: Finch, a static lullaby, matchbook romance, thursday, Underoath. for something a bit more screamo try, planes mistaken for stars, further seems forever, beutiful mistake. For all who think ffaf sucks, you have a right to your own opinion but you obviously dont know what good emocore is, these guys are extremely talented and are gonna go far!

This CD is so good and is their second best in front of hours. This years most open heartbreak is my favourite song by them and also of all time by anyone. It is so amazing along with the rest of the CD and every song period by them. FFAF are easily my favourite band and they will never turn into a bad one.
