Glasseater is one of those bands that experimented with their music in what many would call a hybrid of rock styles. Basically, it's punk-pop mixed with metal. So what you get is parts that sound pop-punk like (usually the chorus) with hard rock type verses, and screaming is thrown in where ever it sounds good. It's a great thing. Of course, it is now 2009 and TONS of bands are now doing the whole "scream-o" and melodic hardcore thing of screaming and singing (aka. clean and unclean vocals). But at the time, this album was one of the first to successfully combine punk-pop and metal (lol, if that's even possible). All that said...my point is, this album is great. And not just because it's a milestone -in my opinion- for being one of the first to mix screaming & metal in with pop-punk; but because the songs are actually memorable and catchy. Truth be told, you may think some of the songs are a bit long, and coupled with the fact that those songs are usually mid-tempo doesn't help. But for the most part there are more hits than misses on 7 years bad luck. What it has: metal breakdowns with screaming, melodic sing-along choruses (with screaming) What it does NOT have: hardcore breakdowns, crazy super-fast blast beats (like many metal bands have nowadays)
