The return of the O.G!,

This review is from: Seventh Deadly Sin (Audio CD)
I love this album! Ice-T spits just as shocking and powerfull as he did back in '89! The production, mainly by Ace, is tight too, and the beats are phat all the way through. One thing was that the album had too many guest appearances but it's still very hardcore. What makes him unique is that he still stays real and doesn't go pop and commercial just to sell his records. So in other words, a must for any rap fan!!

Ice-T back in form,
By A Customer
This review is from: Seventh Deadly Sin (Audio CD)
Ice-T is back in form with his Seventh Sin album which is a far better effort than the lacklustre Return of The Real. Most of the songs on the album are excellent and "Check your game" with King Tee is one of the dopest Ice-T cuts ever. WHile the album is not up to the dizzy heights of O.G and Home Invasion, it's still an excellent hardcore hip hop album as only Ice-T can deliver.

Not since the O.G. and Home Invasion days has Ice come back hard and back to his gangsta rap roots. This CD is tight as hell, each track a true gem. Ice keepin' hittin' us with albums, I hate waiting 3 years per album now, but hearing "The 7th Deadly Sin", it was WELL worth the wait! Stay real Ice!MC AK

None of that Jay Z, 50 Cent, Ja Rule CRAP!Ice T like he has always done produced another WestCoast Hardcore Gangsta Rap CD! This by far is his best album, showing he still got skills! Only song I don't care for is "New York New York", but all the others are bangin. P.S Jay Z speaks on the first song, but no ones perfect.. right?

And this album proves it!!! The rhymes are ill, and the beats are dope. The guest appearances are also tight, and there a guest on practically every track! Overall, I would recommend this album, it is one of the best I bought all year, and it is well worth a purchase. I love the style, the production, and the whole album is great!! Get this album now, I promise you won't regret it!!!

Wow, after four long years Ice hits us with the 7th. This album is just hardcore to the fullest. don't hate on this album, it kicks. Ice doesn't seem to have aged a day since Return Of The Real, and this album has some of his best work in years. songs like 'Don't Hate The Playa' and 'Alwayz Wanted Ta be A Ho' are some of my favourite Ice-T tunes ever. I recommend you get this album as soon as possible. Trust me, it won't dissapoint you!!!

...but unfortunately I just can't. ICE T ends up sounding like he's trying too hard to compensate for his lack of relevance. ICE -- you once were the undisputed king of "breaking down the game" when you wrote gems like "COLORS" and "PEEL THEIR CAPS BACK." But now you are just another face in the sea of gangsterism with this record -- plus you don't have any of the eye-opening political commentary that make you unique. On this release, ICE T also sounds like he's trying too hard to overcome his dwindling credibility (anyone remember that bizarre kangaroo suit he wore for the film "Tank Girl"? Unfortunately I do. But pure testosterone and mock-underground vibes can't really undo the damage done. HOWEVER -- given the fact that I (and many others who appreciate real hip-hop) hold ICE T to a much higher standard due to the fact that he's a living legend -- this album still comes off better than most of the competition! And that is definitely testimate to his success! Songs like "Always Want to be a H*e" are ruthlessly genious! And the track with the slept-on KING T is seriously bumping. Get this record-- but be prepared. It's unique in it's own way; it's not essential, but it will grow on you. |
