My son reacted to several other popular sunscreen/sunblock brands that we tried earlier this summer. He would blister across his cheeks and gets a hive like rash along his hairline. I wanted a physical blocker (titanium dioxide or zinc oxide.) This is the first sunblock we've tried that he hasn't reacted. On the plus side, it doesn't have the same stink as most sunblocks. It smells almost citrusy to me. It is a bit thicker than a traditional moisturizing lotion, but it's not hard to rub in. It does not appear to be super greasy. Because it is a physical blocker, it does have a faint white sheen to it if not fully rubbed in. However, my son has very light skin and this is not very noticeable. I don't know how it might be on someone with a darker skin tone. Bottom line, (even though it's more expensive than some brands) this is what we will be using when we need sunblock. I'm happy to have found a product that doesn't break him out.

I've tried, jnj baby, blue lizard, badger, california baby, 7th generation, and thinkbaby and have to say this and think baby are the best. The latter two go on really smooth and don't leave my kids looking like a vampire. 7th gen almost smells like Noxzema which my kids didn't mind. It's also the cheapest is you do subscribe and save.

I purchased this sunblock for a recent vacation to the beach based upon an excellent rating by the Environmental Working Group. I used the product on a young toddler with very sensitive skin and a very fair skinned older child. The product was easy to rub into the skin and the slight fragrance was not unpleasant. Neither of my children sun burned (or even tanned) at all during the trip and the fair-skinned child swam for several hours each day beginning in the early afternoon (the sunscreen was reapplied about every 2 hours).

The smaller bottles were great for travelling as I placed one bottle in the diaper bag, one bottle in my purse and one bottle with the swimming gear. We were never without sunblock and it was handy during a spur-of-the-moment trip to a state park for a scenic walk and some playground time.

I also used California Baby SPF 30+ Sunblock Stick on their faces (especially under their eyes) and ears with no problems on either child.

I highly recommend this product as it worked well for my family and based upon the research of the Environmental Working Group.

It uses nano sized ZnO - check manufacturer's website [...]. I really hoped to like this sunscreen. But it is not safe

This sunscreen has a EWG score of 1 (good UVB protection, excellent UVA protection, good UVA/UVB balance, excellent sunscreen stability, and low health concerns).
We love the scent of it (reminds of the old sunscreens of the 80s). It is a matter of taste, but we really like it. In addition, unlike other safe sunscreens (like Badger or Loving Naturals, both of which we tried), this one is easy to rub in, which makes a huge difference for our kids, who are old enough to apply it by themselves (and in fact, this is an important consideration when they are dropped off at camp). It also seems to withstand sweat and water pretty well (as with most sunscreens, you have to reapply after swimming, but it doesn't seem to immediately wash off as soon as you get into the pool). It provides good protection.
The only downside is that each tube doesn't seem to go as far, probably because it applies so smoothly. The tube is gone in a few weeks instead of having leftover after the summer. Still, it doesn't seem to increase significantly what we spend in sunscreen every summer, and the kids don't put up a fight every time we try to put sunscreen on.
Overall, I would highly recommend it for kids and adults alike.

First this rates a 1 on the Environmental Work Group (EWG) website. 1 is the highest overall rating you can get for safety and effectiveness.

But beyond that it has become my favorite brand among the 'premium' sunscreens because it doesn't run into my eyes ( I use it for me and our 2 year old), a little goes a long way. And it seems more skin enriching than other brands. Works very well for a long time as well.

Daughter, wife, myself. We all like it. Highly recommended.

We are on our second bottle, and we love it. It does have a herbal smell, and it's rather strong when you first put it on, but the smell goes away quickly. This is a sunscreen containing zinc oxide, so it is a little thicker, but it's a lot creamier and rubs in more easily than Badger sunscreen, which we used to use before we switched to this product. We started using this sunscreen on my daughter when she turned 6 months, and she never experienced any skin reaction from using this product. We also haven't experienced any burning or tanning, so I think the sunscreen is doing its job. We would most likely repurchase once we run out of this one.

PROS - This sunscreen has staying power and is extremely effective as I barely get a tan when I apply it and use it frequently.

CONS - If your skin tone is naturally darker (I'm Asian) and you sweat it makes you look WHITE! When I say white, it's not just a touch chalky, I mean your entire forehead turns white and you look gross. So if aesthetics and beauty is your thing and you workout, don't use this.

If you do want something that works very well and is highly rated by EWG buy it. Kinda expensive but does the job really well.

Even when it "blends in" my tan arms have a white chalky look to them...yuck!

But I'll continue using it when I don't care what I look like; it does work!
