Amazing Diapers!,

I first bought these diapers for my daughter when she got her first bad diaper rash at about a month old. It was one of those rashes that looked as though her skin had been set on fire and nothing seemed to be helping it. I had tried everything and thought maybe these chlorine free diapers and wipes will do something for her. To my amazement, her diaper rash went away within a day and a half of using the diapers and wipes from Seventh Generation. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself! I think that really speakes volumes about the danger of whatever chemicals being are put into the other diaper brands. These are now the ONLY brand of diapers I will buy for my kids.

Needs Work,

We have used the 7gen diapers in sizes 2-4 for quite sometime and have been pleasantly satisfied with its performance on our older kid (see past review). With our new arrival and 7gen now making the N size we got a case of them instead of Pampers Swaddlers as we did with the last kid. Big mistake! Constant !@#$ leaks! The 7gen just don't fit well. They lack enough elasticity and shape. The fit is really baggy. We all know how newborn poop is and it ain't forgiving like older kid poop. There is no cord cut out. They definitely aren't as soft as Pampers Swaddlers. I want to do what I can to save the environment but having to do extra laundry because of diaper leaks isn't the way. For those apologists that say "all diapers leak, at least you are helping the environment" I don't think have really tried these diapers. ALL diapers don't leak. I haven't met a parent that would stand for a diaper that consistently leaks. We all know it is a terrible experience for us and most importantly the baby. 7gen can make them better especially since the only "green" difference is that they didn't bleach the diapers with chlorine. They still use the same crystalline absorbancy material. Don't let them off the hook. The basic technology is the same the execution is lacking.

These diapers have worked really well for us with our newborn. They fit her well and are very absorbent. Plus, they are better for the environment so that is a big bonus.

Wanted to Love these,

I REALLY wanted to love these diapers!! We have been using seventh generation since birth & have had tons of problems. 1st let me say that I like the idea of "chlorine free"; however keep in mind they are still disposable & still contain plastic & gel. Before I really did my research I thought I was doing right by my baby & the environment. Now I realize that in some ways you could make an argument that these may be slightly better for both; however when you consider the drawbacks, in my experience, not really. Next, while I have not had any urine leaks with these I have had TONS of stool leaks (over months!!!). Now, I thought that it was my baby (not user error as I have diapered way more than my share of babies!) until I tried some other diapers (both disposable & cloth), & realized it was the diaper. We have only had only a few non leaking stool diapers, even when I change my baby immediately!!! Now factor in the extra wipes & extra laundry & products needed for stains am I really helping the environment or my baby (not to mention my wallet!!!!!)?
I laugh as everyone who sees these on my baby refers to them as the "organic diapers", while a nice image, this is very inaccurate! I am not trying to slam seventh generation as I have respect for the company; I am just really disappointed with this product. I hope they will continue their efforts & maybe redesign these diapers to make them more effective & eco-friendly. Till then; I must abandon this product! Hope you find this helpful!

Yes - another confirmation of the leak problem by someone who really wanted these to be good. Washing tons of extra outfits/sheets, etc. per day negates the environmental benefits - not to mention that we now have several packs of diapers that we simply won't be able to use. Did not do the trick for our 6 lb. newborn (and we are experienced diaperers.)

After many moons of trying to figure out why our daughter was almost constantly scratching around her waist, our pediatrician told us that she may have a mild latex allergy (we had her tested, she wasn't). We tried many different things to try to relieve our daughter but to no avail. Out of desperation, we changed the diapers on an off-shot that it was something in the diaper. Turns out that it was chlorine (we think!), and these diapers fixed the problem and she hasn't scratched since! She is now wearing size 6.
As for other people with issues with the fit, I have to admit that they don't fit the absolute best, and I don't think they "hold" as much as some of the major market stuff, but in the 2 years she's worn the brand, there have not been that many leaks, either stool or urine wise. That isn't to say it doesn't happen, but it happened with the pampers we were using before as well.

I love that there are environmental friendly (or friendlier) options on the market and I'll do whatever I can to help future generations with the problems that past generations have created. However, I do find that these diapers are a bit bulky for a newborn and I'm not fond of the elastic in the legs. When you put them on they seem like they are baggy but when you take them off you can see where the elastic has been "pinching" the baby's thigh. With a little practice I'm hoping that I can work with the design flaws so that I don't have this problem. I do like the fastener tabs on these diapers - they are simple to use. Overall these diapers kind of remind me of the first vegetarian/organic food options that hit the supermarket shelves...great idea but they've got a ways to go before they are the best choice for reasons other than the environmental benefits.

Terrible Diapers,

I am glad Seventh Generation exists as a company -- that's why I tried these diapers in the first place. And because of the good reviews here and elsewhere. I have to say I am extremely disappointed. First, like one of the other reviewers, I have had multiple stool leaks with these diapers -- a repeated, huge mess that is upsetting to Baby and extremely so to my husband. The baby hasn't had these problems with Pampers. Also, when she wets a lot, the diaper stays wet to her skin, which causes her to FLIP OUT. I am not advocating delaying changing your baby's wet diaper, obviously, but if you're at the Post Office trying to mail Christmas packages, for example, you might prefer to wait til you get back home or at least to the car and not have the Baby wailing the entire time. Besides, can all that wetness on her skin be good for her? I would think not. At bottom (no pun intended), I guess that I feel the environmental effects of these diapers as opposed to others are so uncertain and/or miniscule that I am not willing to upset my entire family and have her mess all over the place. I would not buy these again.

My husband and I decided to do cloth diapering before the baby was born. When she arrived full term, she was still too tiny for the washable diapers that we bought. So when no 7th Generation Newborn diapers were available at the store, we ordered a case from Amazon. In the meantime, we had to use some major name brand and were bothered with the scent (the same used in kitty litter) and the fact that we were spending money to promote Big Bird. Getting these 7th Generation was great: Chlorine-free and absorbent! Plus they are convenient for traveling so we can leave the cloth diapers at home :)

These diapers have recently undergone another round of design changes....rather reduction in the material being used to make a diaper...for a eco sensitive person it may sound good...but when i first noticed, it looked lighter and flimsy. But have been using these new diapers for the past month for our newborn and havent had any leaks or rashes ...so i can see no reason to give it a low rating
