Most Helpful Customer Reviews

Size Name: 16 Pack
I've used Natracare and Seventh Generation organic-cotton applicator tampons for more than 4 years.

---
Absorbency

Both brands offer applicator tampons in regular and super sizes.

For both brands, I have noticed that the regular size is a bit on the light-absorbency side. Because the amount of flow varies unpredictably throughout my period, I use the super size on all but the lightest days.

The super-plus size seems to be offered by Seventh Generation but not Natracare. This is a good option if you have quite a heavy flow and/or need extra insurance that you'll have protection when you need it.

---
Ease of insertion

The cardboard applicators of these two brands can be tricky to hold securely while pushing up on them, when one is "in position".

Pushing the tampon out about 1/8th of an inch beyond the end of the applicator (while holding it up in the air in front of you) before you are ready to insert it, then making an effort to hold tightly onto the ridged area of the applicator while you are inserting it, helps.

It just takes a little time to develop a technique that works for you, and then you won't have difficulties.

---
Leakage

I think both brands do quite a good job, yet both do leak occasionally for me. However, any tampon can leak, and it's my thought that it's better for a full or nearly-full tampon to leak a little than to seal the canal so tightly that the accumulated flow backs up into the uterus.

Once in a while (maybe 1 out of 20), I will find that one of these tampons hardly absorbs anything, even though there is fluid there to be absorbed.
