Important Information

Ingredients
Our diapers are made of chlorine free wood pulp fluff, sodium polyacrylate (also referred to as SAP or absorbent gel), polyolefin nonwoven fabric, adhesives, polyolefin film, synthetic rubber elastic strands The color of disposable diapers is typically achieved through the addition of color pigments to their inner and outer cover materials. This is also true for Seventh Generation diapers. While most designs on the market use pigments that result in a white color, we use a small amount of blended color pigments to impart a tan color to our diapers. The blend is proprietary to the supplier of the pigment. To the best of our knowledge, there are no known toxicity issues associated with the use of these pigments in our diapers. Without the addition of color pigments, these materials would be colorless, much like a plastic milk jug. We use brown pigments to help distinguish Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Diapers from others in the marketplace that are bleached with chlorine-containing substances. All disposable diapers, including Seventh Generation’s, rely on man-made materials to deliver the high-level performance that parents expect of modern diapers. These materials are mostly petroleum-derived and are not renewable, which adversely impacts the environmental footprint associated with these products. At Seventh Generation, we are pleased to offer an alternative that is not bleached with chemicals containing chlorine, and are working hard to further improve the sustainability of our diaper products. About Chlorine The wood pulp used in our diapers has not been processed with chemicals containing chlorine. This prevents dangerous chlorinated toxins from being released into the environment through the pulp production process.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not actually a big price increase September 30, 2012
By pdxmatt
Unit Count:155| Size Name:3|Amazon Verified Purchase
I just want to make sure everyone realizes what's happening here. The old Stage 3 Subscribe & Save package was for 4 boxes of 35 diapers (140 diapers). Those boxes haven't been sold in stores in months. Seventh Generation switched to 31-diaper boxes that supposedly fit better and velcro together better. Doubtful. Regardless, this value pack is for 155 diapers, which is now 5 boxes of 31 diapers, instead of 4. At my local grocery store, a single box of 31 diapers costs $13-$14. That means a 5-pack of those boxes at retail price would be $65-$70. The Subscribe & Save price is $40. That's a fantastic deal, in my mind. It's still more expensive per diaper than the old deal, but that's because Amazon eventually was going to run out of boxes of the old diapers that they had stockpiled. Now that they are forced to buy the new Seventh Generation packages, it will be a bit pricier.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great 7th Generation product August 23, 2012
Unit Count:135| Size Name:4|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I do prefer the packaging of the 135 pack as it's somewhat more sustainable and much easier to store (slide right under the crib). I would love to use 7th generation diapers exclusively and I do feel that the put a lot into the consistency of the products.

I have looked at these diapers as an alternative to conventional disposables for sometime (day care won't let us use our cloth diapers there). I have been skeptical of the Seventh Generation products because I didn't want to pay for a product that was going to perform poorly in comparison to my normal diapers (I have always gone with Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers and have loved them). After using these diapers around the clock here are mine (and my wife's) observations.

- Fit: They fit great compared to the normal diapers we use. My daughter is 25 lbs and she fits snugly in size 4 with no leaks.
- Smell: Some of the other reviewers complained about a weird smell, but we have both found that the mask the pee smell better than our usual diapers
- Absorbency: These work great. We haven't had any blowouts and we have had zero leaks with overnight use.
- Irritation: We have noticed less irritation and diaper rash as a result of these diapers.
- General ease of use: I found them to be less bulky and easier to put on than standard diapers. I also found that the baby had more room in her outfits without the normal bulk and she seems to be able to wiggle her legs more.

I rated them a 4 instead of 5 simply because of the price. I am going to have a hard time justifying the additional expenditure, but I do feel that Seventh Generation offers a superior product here.

Unit Count:54| Size Name:4|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
We cloth diaper during the day but use disposables at night and camping or long roadtrips. I would not buy any other brand but Seventh Generation! They disclose all of their ingredients (including the fact that the diapers are actually brownish in color because they add a brown pigment, not because of the fact that they do not use chlorine bleach, although that is also true) and the purpose behind each. The company is always striving to lighten their footprint and this new design is awesome! It's redesigned core uses less of the wood pulp. The resulting diaper is much thinner. We miss the cushiony feel of the puffier design. I noticed absolutely no difference in absorbancy..my 15month old can wear one all night without leaking a bit! The new design seems longer/taller so you have to be careful to get the diaper on straight, otherwise the possibility for leaking is there. The company also states that the redesigned core results in more efficent absorbing, but do not make mention if they've increased the amount of Sodium Polyacrylate (SAP), the absorbing gel. My guess is yes. I have noticed gel crystals stuck to her bottom on occasion, which neverused to happen. That bothers me but I can say it's been much worse in other brands, including Whole Foods private label brand which ALWAYS left the SAP beads stuck to her, even if she only peed once in the diaper. Just recently it seems they've changed their design again. I can tell they're cutting corners on the stretchy tabs. A few years ago, they were a dream, but now they're a pain. I've had them tear off on multiple occasions, rendering the diaper useless.
So, yes, the new design is money saving for the company and a tad disappointing but, this is still the best option we've found.

4.0 out of 5 stars Diapers not as expected, but they get the job done. January 1, 2013
By Jaclyn
Unit Count:80| Size Name:1|Amazon Verified Purchase
Similar to L. Gartner's review on Dec 23, 2012 I received 2 jumbo boxes of diapers where the gusset was not separated on the right side throughout the entire package. Are these lower quality/defective diapers that are being sold? If so I will not reorder. The diapers are much needed so I don't have time to return them. They work, but it's an inconvenience.

These are good quality diapers, no issues except maybe not the best nighttime diapers. Like the environmental responsibility they have.

We used these diapers for the last year-and-a-half. We recently received a new shipment. After one day, we quickly realized that the diaper was very different.

The first night using the newly-formulated diaper it failed and did not withhold urine from getting all over the toddler and bed. This was the first time this had happened in four or five months,

The next day, we realized that what at first appeared to be the diaper disintegrating all over the child were actually the chemical liner forming beads on the child's skin leading to redness. In 17 months of using the prior formulation, this had never happened.

Clearly, 7th Generation has been re-formulating (while concurrently increasing their prices) to cut costs and increase profits at the expense of the consumer. They have changed the packaging to be more striking, perhaps to obscure the fact that the contents are now so inferior.

I am returning these products (along with the terrible, newly formulated baby wipes) and moving on to another brand.

If you have an existing subscription beware - you will not be receiving the product that you signed up for originally.
