Smells Great and works!,
By
This review is from: Seventh Generation Natural Fabric Softener, Blue Eucalyptus and Lavender Scent, Ultra-Concentrated, 40-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6) (Health and Beauty)
I just got my first case of this fabric softener last week and yesterday, I was walking downstairs when the smell of lavender hit me - I was surprised because I hadn't sprayed any lavender freshener in the air, when I realized that my boyfriend was doing a load of laundry. Like Seventh Generation's lavender laundry detergent, I love this product - if you use them in tandem, not only do your clothes smell like *real* lavender (not the chemically-based smells of mainstream products), but they come out clean and soft. I especially like the lavender smell for my sheets and blankets and it's gentle enough to use on my baby's clothes, too! I love that it's made with natural products and real lavender essential oil. It's also safe for my septic system, so I'm sold on this product. If you're sensitive to the chemical-based scents of the mainstream fabric softeners or can't find one that smells good to you, try this one!

Great for people with allergies,

This review is from: Seventh Generation Natural Fabric Softener, Blue Eucalyptus and Lavender Scent, Ultra-Concentrated, 40-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6) (Health and Beauty)
Almost all the reviews are focusing on the fact that this product is good for the environment, but I would like to point out something a little different. My wife developed an allergy to the chemicals used in normal fabric softners such as Downy and Snuggle. We tried different brands, scents and even the "free" versions of sheets. Nothing was working for her allergy. We finally gave up on fabric softner and I resigned myself to scratchy cloths.
Then here mother gave us a couple of Seventh Generation's competitors' products. They worked well and it was better than no fabric softner. We were just about out so I started searching the internet for what to get and found out about SG products. After looking locally and not finding any at several gracery and retail stores I decided to order online and took a big chance with amazon.com having to order an entire case at a time. I pleased to report though that my wife has no problems with this product and is actually quite pleased with its performace as compared to the big names. The subscribe and save feature makes this a pretty good deal as well. The local Kroger started carrying the SG line of products, but if I am willing to buy a case, amazon.com is the way to go. I hope maybe this review will at least help someone else that is stuck like my wife and I with an allergy problem.

Soy Softener,
This review is from: Seventh Generation Natural Fabric Softener, Blue Eucalyptus and Lavender Scent, Ultra-Concentrated, 40-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6) (Health and Beauty)
This Soy-based softener is a lovely alternative to most of the heavily scented products on the market. It is natural, softens your sheets and towels like a dream and makes you feel good and relaxed while folding the laundry.
After using this product, you may find you need to use it much less than other fabric softeners. My sheets just don't wrinkle as much in the dryer anymore. I find myself using this product only when absolutely needed so it saves me money. It does make my towels super fluffy and I feel good about using a natural product. If you are in the mood, you could also add your own essential oils for a custom scent. ~The Rebecca Review

This fabric softener is totally adaquate. Clothes are not over soft and no static. However, the lavender scent does not transfer to the dried clothes - which is what I was hoping for. Overall, performance is better than if not equal to regular store bought brands and better for the environment!

I had been using Tide for my laundry detergent and Downey for my fabric softener, for as long as I can remember. After being advised that the natural environment friendly products might be easier on my sensitive skin, I gave them a try. I first tried the Seventh Generation Laundry Concentrate, Blue Eucalyptus & Lavender, 50-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6) and was so impressed that I decided to give the fabric softener a try. I am glad I did.
I don't think this fabric softener makes the clothes quite as soft as Downey, but it comes pretty darn close. What I have noticed is that Downey made some of my clothing fabrics feel like there was a film on them, Seventh Generation does not. Every fabric feels clean and soft. I think the price is very comparable to the Downey, as well. In fact I pay only a little less for the Downey at my local grocery store. With Seventh Generation being so earth and animal friendly, I think it's more than worth the price. My one complaint, and it seems I am not the only reviewer that feels this way, is that the scent doesn't last through the drying cycle. Your clothes still smell clean, but they don't have the blue eucalyptus and lavender smell I love so from the bottle. I really hope they fix that, my husband hopes they don't. I am from this point on going to be using the Seventh Generation laundry products, they have won me over. Cherise Everhard, January 2008

I have been using SG Fabric Softener for about 3 months now. I have to add a little more to reduce the static on some fabrics like Nylon and Lycra. The lavender fragrance is not present when the clothes leave the dryer.

i use this product on my own laundry and in my laundry service. i like the light scent of it but its not for those who like a strong smell. you can smell it when it comes out of the wash but not so much out of the dryer. the softness factor is good.

I bought this fabric softener on the reccomendation of a friend and I was very pleased with the results. There are very few dye and perfume free fabric softeners on the market and this is an important consideration since I have a baby and a 2 year old. Also, dyes in laundry detergents and softeners have stained my clothes more than once. This softener left my clothes soft even off the clothesline and has a pleasant but not overwhelming scent

Works great. I use 1/3 softener and 2/3 water in a spray container and spritz an old washcloth or some "dryer sheets" I have made from old pillowcases. Toss it in the dryer and clothes come out static free and with a very very subtle scent. This idea is from Linda Cobb, The Queen of Clean. One bottle lasted me 3 1/2 years with washing for one person. I don't use it in the washer at all. Any fabric softener, even natural, wears clothes out faster. It coats the fibers. Towels don't stay absorbent for long, and it's (fabric softener) just not a necessary thing. I wear mostly cottons, some wool, rayon or linen, but even my few synthetics don't need to be "softened". Static I do get in winter, and this 1/3 to 2/3 works great. I had my first bottle for so long the scent was gone after a couple of years and I was able to scent each batch I made differently with my own essential oils, or no scent at all.

We bought this product recently. I was unimpressed with the cleaning. After looking further I saw that Seventh Generation had been caught for not disclosing all of the ingredients in their products. Consumer reports had an article on this.
Ironically, the company and its President, Mr. Hollander, brag about how their product discloses all of its ingredients, yet they don't even know the ingredients. This is because Seventh Generation doesn't manufacture anything themselves. They outsource it, to who knows maybe a company in China. The bottom line is they don't know what is in it since they don't make it. They are simply a marketing company. Don't buy into the hype and be ripped off. You can buy Tide Free & Clear or Method Products for a lot less. Unlike Seventh Generation, they make their own products and know what is in it. |
