5.0 out of 5 stars Seventh Generation Paper Towels
While not as soft as your traditional papertowel, they are strong and can handle being wet, rung out, and scrubbed with. Since I generally use them for quick cleaning and not for wiping my face, softness isn't much of a concern.

2.0 out of 5 stars do the math
You might be comparing these white paper towels with the 30 rolls of Seventh Generation, brown paper towels also sold on Amazon wondering which is cheaper. Note that these are 70 sheets per roll. The brown ones are 120 sheets per roll.

White paper towels
$40.99/(30*70) = 1.9 cents per sheet.

Brown paper towels
$54.99/(30*120) = 1.5...

I tried both the bleached white and the brown natural versions of these towels and I BY FAR prefer the white; not because of the color, but because you get more for your money.
The white towels are not as soft feeling as your grocery store preferred brands. They actually feel rather rough; but they are quite strong and lint free. Both versions are the same size towel, about 1/3rd smaller than your standard papertowel. The brown version feels much thinner and is not nearly as strong. On both, the perforations are not cut very well and it's nearly impossible to tear off a single sheet. I can use the white towel and hang it on my kitchen faucet to dry and use it again; not so with the brown version.
I'd buy the white towel again, but I wouldn't buy the brown natural towel.

I really like 'green' products and use quite a few of them. And though I know I am saving trees, among other things, I can't help but wonder if I *really am* saving much of anything when I have to use 3 or 4 sheets of a product that I other wise would have to use one sheet of. It *still* takes energy to produce these paper towels and if I am having to use 3 times more of it over another product, then I have problems believing it is really accomplishing much as using more means more waste as well (not good for our earth either), not to mention the irritation factor.

I reach for these in a *quick need* situation and especially if my hands are already wet, I end up with only a piece of towel in my hand, where as if I use the 'regular' towels if I pull off a sheet, I get a sheet. This paper towel is not strong, or very absorbent. I would be more than happy to pay a little more if I felt I were actually helping the environment, but I just feel with using 3 times as much of a product to accomplish what one of something should accomplish is just not saving anything for anyone. I really *want* to be happy with these, but just not happening.

So thought I have to give it 5 stars for the green effort, I feel I have to give it 2 stars for *actual usability* of this product. The only thing these paper towels really has going for it is that it *is* a green product.

I own the brown version of these paper towels and only use them to cover food in the microwave as they are not useful for anything else. I delayed buying the white ones for that reason. Then I read all the positive reviews that it was close to Bounty (brand I use and love) and much stronger than the brown.I can assure you this item is NOT even close to Bounty, but is moderately better than the brown version. After it is wet, it starts to decompose but not as readily as the brown version. After I use up this case, I will not purchase either the brown or white again. I do happily use this brand's toilet paper (except when guests come) and I love their lavender scented dish washing soap and laundry products.

I like to recycle and I like to purchase recycled products - but they have to do just as well as the alternative. I am thrilled with these - they don't fall apart easily and do a great job.

Amazon makes it easy to switch to recycled paper products at our house. There are a couple of things, though, that would make this product better. The rolls are not quite as long as regular paper towels, so they tend to fall off a standard towel dispenser unless it's spring-loaded. And, if we could find the half-sheet rolls in a recycle-able product, that would become the standard for our family. Many times we only need half a sheet to do the job. That saves a lot of trash over the course of a year.

I love these paper towels. They are a little rougher than the commercial towels, but I actually feel that they pick up messes better because they are rougher. I like the fact that they are recycled, and I haven't had any trouble tearing them off at the perforations. I also haven't needed to use more of the natural paper towels to clean up messes. Really, the change over to these towels has been very painless, as I don't notice much of a difference, but these are recycled, so that makes me happy.

I don't want nor need "soft" paper towels. First off, they fall apart and are not overly absorbant. What I want is something that will stand up to multiple usages and still hold their shape. This is the towel for you.

I use a LOT of paper towels and these are sturdy and hold up great. I just love them and by getting them with the PRIME free shipping on Amazon, you can't beat it!

Don't hesitate to try this environmentally friendly product. It's just common sense to try to make things right in the world.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed, August 31, 2008
This review is from: Seventh Generation Paper Towels, White, 2-Ply Sheets, 3-Count Packages (Pack of 10) (Health and Beauty)
I love buying "green" products and recycled products. These paper towels are the worst ever. I absolutely hate them. I would send them back if it was worth the shipping. As soon as they are even slightly moist they fall apart and disintegrate. We don't use baby wipes, instead we use paper towels and plain water to clean our toddler and 5 year old boys. These are terrible for that purpose. Even if we use four or five towels at once they fall apart and are useless. Wiping up spills produces the same effect. If we are using these for dry messes these towels are horrible. I won't buy these again.
