From the Manufacturer

Ultra Absorbent

Our ultra-absorbent, high capacity diaper core absorbs 3X a standard wetting without giving up your baby’s comfort. A technical wicking layer pulls moisture away from your baby’s skin, while double leg cuffs and stretchy waistband help control leaks. Large, adjustable, re-sealable tabs provide a flexible but snug fit for any baby, from newborn to on-the-go toddlers, so get outside and have some fun.

Gentle from Day One

Your baby’s skin health is our number one priority. The absorbent core of Seventh Generation Free & Clear Diapers are clinically proven to be gentle on skin and are made with 0% bleaching chemicals and are free from lotions and fragrances. Seventh Generation unbleached baby diapers are designed to be kind to baby and planet: by weight, nearly 30% of the diaper is the absorbent fluffy pulp that comes from trees and Seventh Generation Diapers are the first, and hopefully not the last, FSC certified diaper made in North America because sustainable sourcing matters to us. Additionally, the diapers core is made with no chlorine processing, no pulp whitening or bleaching so that Seventh Generation uses less energy, water and trees to make these diapers than previous generations of diapers. With almost 7.5 billion pounds of disposable diapers going to landfill every year, the reward for your small everyday choices can make a big difference as we try to minimize our impact on the environment. As always at Seventh Generation, we are caring today for seven generation of tomorrows.

Free & Clear Diaper Features

Ultra Absorbant

High-capacity core provides premium leak protection without bleaching chemicals.

Soft & Gentle

Our softest diaper ever. No petroleum based lotions or fragrances.

Sustainably Sourced

Responsibly sourced to ensure environmentally sound and socially beneficial management of the world's forests.

Important Information

Ingredients
Our diapers are made of chlorine free wood pulp fluff, sodium polyacrylate (also referred to as SAP or absorbent gel), polyolefin nonwoven fabric, adhesives, polyolefin film, synthetic rubber elastic strands The color of disposable diapers is typically achieved through the addition of color pigments to their inner and outer cover materials. This is also true for Seventh Generation diapers. While most designs on the market use pigments that result in a white color, we use a small amount of blended color pigments to impart a tan color to our diapers. The blend is proprietary to the supplier of the pigment. To the best of our knowledge, there are no known toxicity issues associated with the use of these pigments in our diapers. Without the addition of color pigments, these materials would be colorless, much like a plastic milk jug. We use brown pigments to help distinguish Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Diapers from others in the marketplace that are bleached with chlorine-containing substances. All disposable diapers, including Seventh Generation’s, rely on man-made materials to deliver the high-level performance that parents expect of modern diapers. These materials are mostly petroleum-derived and are not renewable, which adversely impacts the environmental footprint associated with these products. At Seventh Generation, we are pleased to offer an alternative that is not bleached with chemicals containing chlorine, and are working hard to further improve the sustainability of our diaper products. About Chlorine The wood pulp used in our diapers has not been processed with chemicals containing chlorine. This prevents dangerous chlorinated toxins from being released into the environment through the pulp production process.

We used these diapers for the last year-and-a-half. We recently received a new shipment. After one day, we quickly realized that the diaper was very different.

The first night using the newly-formulated diaper it failed and did not withhold urine from getting all over the toddler and bed. This was the first time this had happened in four or five months,

The next day, we realized that what at first appeared to be the diaper disintegrating all over the child were actually the chemical liner forming beads on the child's skin leading to redness. In 17 months of using the prior formulation, this had never happened.

Clearly, 7th Generation has been re-formulating (while concurrently increasing their prices) to cut costs and increase profits at the expense of the consumer. They have changed the packaging to be more striking, perhaps to obscure the fact that the contents are now so inferior.

I am returning these products (along with the terrible, newly formulated baby wipes) and moving on to another brand.

If you have an existing subscription beware - you will not be receiving the product that you signed up for originally.

Hello!
My name is Tim and I work at Seventh Generation. I am sorry to hear about your experience with the new Free & Clear Diapers. It is very unusual that the diapers would be performing in such a manner. Please contact our Customer Service team so that we can help you out with this; they are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

If you find a moment, give us a call at 800-456-1191 or email us directly at dgl@seventhgeneration.com. I am curious to learn more about your experience and see what we can do to help. Thanks.

Bought 2 cases of the size 4 to find that the diapers have been redesigned, and not for the better...... Old Lorax labeled diapers were great. New ones are not very absorbent and when removing a wet diaper, baby's skin has pilled fabric balls everywhere. Diapers now bunch up when baby is wet. Wake up, do you all test products in real settings before doing a mass production change? Thoroughly disappointed in a once reliable product.

Hello,
My name is Tim and I am from Seventh Generation. I am sorry to hear of your experience with the new Free & Clear design. It is unusual to hear absorbency troubles with our diapers. Can you tell me more about this "pilling"? I am very curious about your experience and would like to see what we could do to help. If you find a moment, please contact us at 800-456-1191 or email us at dgl@seventhgeneration.com. I hope to hear from you soon.

I WAS a loyal Seventh Generation fan. Have used them for 2 years now and planned to use them until we didn't need diapers anymore. But I will be cancelling my subscribe and save. I LOVED the old diaper, but the new reformulation is AWFUL. The new filling is not absorbent, but what is worse is how badly it clumps up. My very active toddler goes from running to waddling as soon as he wets even the smallest amount. I am devastated to have to find a new diaper, but there is no way I will continue to purchase a clumpy, non absorbent, urine smelling diaper. Not gonna lie, I am heartbroken they changed these!!!

Hi Stephanie,
My name is Tim and I am from Seventh Generation. I am sorry to hear of your experience with our new free & clear diapers. The unbleached wood pulp (used as the absorbency material) should not be "clumping"; this is very unusual. Can you tell me more about your experience? I am very interested in trying to help you solve this problem, if you find a moment please contact us at 800-456-1191 or at dgl@seventhgeneration.com. I hope to hear from you soon.

We have used Pampers Baby Dry, Pampers Swaddlers, Walmart brand, Fisher Price, Target brand, and Honest Company. My favorites are Honest Company (because they're cute and are free of evil chemicals), so we usually use a combo of those and Target (because we can't afford to buy Honest all the time). These are now welcome in the mix, too.

First of all, I have to say...they 'over-greened' these. That lovely, unbleached-looking color they have? Well if you read the fine print, you'll learn that they're dyed to look that color. I can only imagine the market research that went into that. (The box I got also had a "Lorax Approved" little printed band along the top. Not intrusive, but not plain diapers if that's what you want.) BUT ANYWAY.

That aside, these are a good diaper. I uploaded some pics for a comparison between a size 4 7G and size 3 in Target and Honest. These seem to run pretty standard. Right now my 9 month old is in size 3 still (Honest runs a bit small, but she's a solid 3 in Target brand). She was wetting through diapers at night sometimes, though, so we've been putting her in these 4s overnight and they do the trick. No leaks, no diaper rash, happy baby, happy mom! You can see in the pics that the Honest ones are a bit 'fluffier'. These are flat like the Target ones. I assume that's because they use some sort of different absorbent material, but I don't know the difference. Doesn't really mean anything, just interesting to note!

I've used 7th generation diapers on my children for years and recently bought a box of the newborn size for our new baby. I started him with a pack from Target that functioned and looked exactly the same as the others I've used in the past and then started using the ones from the box from Amazon. The diapers from Amazon are noticeably different in that they leak TERRIBLY. My tiny not even 8lb newborn peed in one earlier while I was holding him and ended up with pee all around his waist (no this was definitely not a user error related to him being a boy...this is our 5th son!). I've noticed the diapers are absolutely sopping wet to the touch even if he pees just a little, meaning he cries each and every time he goes. He wasn't doing that in our first bag of diapers from Target and it makes for a very fussy baby. The diapers are damp on the outside too, which should NOT be happening. These things are useless!

Poor quality: There is unpair side panel for legs. Look at my attached picture. Is it one of 31pcs? No! I am using it almost one pack, and every single one looks like this. NO QUALITY CONTROL?! One side of panel is cut off and there is only elastic bands left and not covering the leg. So disappointed! I order this 155 x 2 for subsribe & save. Do I have to investigate every 310 pcs?! I had to use 1 pack(31pcs), I may need to contact Amazon customer center to return the left.
When I had used size 1 & 2 before for my son, fit was good an not leaking. We would like to experience other daipers, so we changed to Earth's Best for size 2 and used for quite long time. It also was very good, but as my son grows, it leaked poop and pee. When we need to upgrade the daiper size 2 to 3, we decied to go back to 7 generation.
This time, however, I am very upset about very poor quality. How can they sell this kind of daiper? In addition, my son gets daiper rash and I feel so bad. He sometimes has minor rashes, but it cured natually or lasted only one day. However, after changing to 7G, he got very bad rashes and it lasts more than 3 days. Of course, there might be other cause, but I don't see any other reason.
