Editorial Reviews

2012 two CD studio album from former Genesis guitarist Anthony Phillips and composer Andrew Skeet. Andrew is a composer primarily for television and film, and is much in demand as a conductor and arranger. His music has been featured in The Apprentice, Banged up Abroad, and What Katie Did Next amongst many others. Featuring on the album is Belinda Sykes, who sings on the track 'Seven Ancient Wonders'. Also performing is John Parricelli, one of the key figures on the British Jazz scene. He has featured on over 200 movie scores including Lord of the Rings, Shakespeare in Love and The Constant Gardener.

I have many of Anthony's albums (including all but one of the PP and P collections) along with Genesis and their individual solo career albums. I place this album among Geese, Wise, Slow Dance and now Seventh Heaven as among Anthony's finest accomplishments. This comes closest to Slow Dance in that it is comprised of fully orchestrated pieces and the compositions and arrangements are of the highest caliber he has produced in his long career. I never write reviews on Amazon but I was so pleasantly surprised by this CD that I wanted to bring it to the attention of all AP and Genesis fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars well done February 16, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
The collaborative efforts of Phillips and Skeet is marriage made in heaven. From the haunting " "Ghosts of New York" to the exuberant "Sojourn" Seventh Heaven touches the soul in a deep way. Delicate melodies taken from Field Day set to the lush yet tasteful arrangements of Andrew Skeet are very well done. Were as The Geese and Ghosts was charming in an off beat, quirky kind of way Seventh Heaven is perhaps best described as a Mature & sophisticated work. Its been many years since I have been so smitten by a modern work of art. Well done.

Look no further for Album of the Year. It's right here. Everything about this album is excellent. Up there with everything Anthony Phillips has ever done. He's done Quite a lot. It's all as good as it gets.
