Psyhic fiction,
By
This review is from: The Seventh Sense (Mass Market Paperback)
I began reading T.J. Macgregor when she was writing South Florida murder mysteries and have been intrigued as she ventured onto "the other side" of psychic fiction. Her characters are so real I find myself considering them as people I know and being an animal lover I am delighted with the personalities of the animals as well. Nobody matches her for reading peoples thoughts and writing them down..Obviously the Kirkus reviewer is completely right or no brained.....

AWESOME READ - her best effort yet,
By Carol in VA "Carol" (VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Seventh Sense (Hardcover)
The twists and turns in this book make it very hard to put down and I couldn't. The main characters intrigue you enough that you hope she will continue the series. Introduction of friends of Logan and Charlie make you want to know the story behind them. Reading the sory from the killer's side at the same time made the whole story flow in a way that made me want to get to the next page before I had finished the one I was on! Can't wait to see if another one follows

A "Can't Put Me DOWN" Kind of Read,
By SueCBDR@aol.com (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Seventh Sense (Hardcover)
WHEW! What a FABulous read. I started this book around 5 P.M. today; finished it around 10 P.M. (it's 262 pages). I had to find out how it ended. Just had to. In many ways--the characters probably could have been more fully developed; T.J. also did some segues that made me have to reread a couple sections; but for the most part, this was a story that grabbed me by the seat of my pants and WOULD NOT, COULD NOT let me go. Two of the main characters have suffered Near Death Experiences; this allows them to experience what another character calls The Seventh Sense (in addition to our five senses, she defined the sixth sense as intuition). The main character, Charlie Calloway's husband & unborn baby are killed in a hit & run accident that caused Charlie's NDE. Charlie is an FBI agent, so along with her background and the help of a buddy, she is determined to find the driver who so horribly altered her life. Not only did I want to see how this story ended (and it's a hell of an ending ;-), but I grew more horrified as the story went on--seeing the "bad guy" literally disintegrate in front of my eyes. Other than the NDE "seventh sense" (which may or may not be believable to you), everything else in the story rings true--which makes it that much more horrifying. If you want a story that'll put you on the edge of your seat--check out T.J. MacGregor's, The Seventh Sense.

Worthwhile.,

I found this novel stilted in places, and some of the situations far-fetched. But it hangs together well. And psychic thrillers (a genre I love) are hard to come by. So this is definitely worth reading.

Incredibly Engrossing Read!,
By Chase von (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Seventh Sense (Mass Market Paperback)
I just finished this book and was very impressed with the authors ability to keep me wanting to see what would happen next. I'd also just read Anne Rice's new book and enjoyed that as well but as often happens when you read one great author, you find yourself disappointed with another....
Not the case here... (I also feel kind of stupid because I just glanced and saw where someone else said in their review, her best work to date or something to that effect and I had no idea I was reading something written by a woman)... (Think the initials TJ and the last name threw me)... But the writing was superb and the depth she (Which I know it's a she now, having done a google search)... Goes into makes you feel you know the characters she employs in this work and it certainly is a mystery as well as something that rings with an erie sense of realism. I definitely recommend it and I'm going to have to check out more of this authors work because I truly enjoyed it! If you want something that will really entertain you and rings with a truth to it... Check it out... I wonder if this is a movie? If not, it certainly should be... Although I don't know how they would be able to translate to film the thoughts the individuals have that makes this book seem like your reading a true story. I can easily see Jenny McShane or Ashley Judd playing the part of Charlie and Tom Berenger as Logan and perhaps Don Cheadle as Leo... As for the villian? It's not hard to picture perhaps Leonardo DiCaprio? But I imagine that's something that would be decided later. Do read because it sounds like it would make an excellent movie! It starts with a car accident which really isn't because it is done by a lawyer who is consumed by road rage. Who he hits however is what makes the meat of the story possible, because if it was just any of us, it perhaps would have remained unsolved. Look Out For Road Rage!,
By
This review is from: The Seventh Sense (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one of those perfect rainy day books that you can read in a day. It centers around someone that just "loses it" in a case of road rage. After knowingly kills somebody and calms down he must decide what to do. Does he turn himself in and repent or does he cover his tracks? Of course he picks the latter course which means he must then become a vicious criminal to cover all bases. This book goes to show that no matter what the situation you should not let your rage get the better of you. Otherwise you can go from law-abiding citizan to vicious animal. There are some parts that I did have problems with such as some of the criminal talents that the main character was able to come up with out of nowhere. Also, there is one of those parts, reminicent of the movies where a guy will put a snake in a house to kill all the house occupants. Most animals of that type do not go hunting for humans and only strike when threatened or cornered. However, directors try to take poetic license and change the animal's nature to suit the film.

Frightening road rage police procedural,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Seventh Sense (Hardcover)
The client, Jerome MacClean delays his decision on whether to hire Miami attorney Frank Benedict and his law firm. An impotent Frank leaves for home filled with anger. On the way home, he drinks from a flask until he explodes into a mega case of road rage. He purposely sends his BMW crashing twice into the vehicle in front of him. A pregnant woman falls out of the car as a suddenly panicked Frank speeds around and away from the accident scene. As her husband lies dead, the pregnant passenger in the other vehicle, FBI agent Charlotte "Charlie" Calloway, suffers a miscarriage. Desperate to find the SOB who destroyed her family, Charlie turns to help from Leo Wells, who asks Doug Logan for help. After nearly dying, Doug has psychic abilities that he uses to assist Charlie in finding the hit and run murderer. As they get closer to the culprit, Frank becomes even more unhinged and dangerous to everyone, including his spouse, who gets in his path. THE SEVENTH SENSE is a tight thriller that will frighten readers because road rage is becoming a common occurrence. From the very start, the story line never loosens its grip on the audience as Frank's decent into hell begins immediately. The characters all feel genuine, especially the negative feelings of Frank and Charlie. T.J. MacGregor provides readers with a chilling must read. Harriet Klausner

Better than "Hanged Man," but still not quite 4 stars...,
By
This review is from: The Seventh Sense (Mass Market Paperback)
I love a good psychic fiction thriller. This had all the elements of one: a hit and run accident fueled by rage, a retired FBI agent who has psychometric abilities, and the woman who survived the hit and run - also an FBI agent - out to find out who killed her husband, and her unborn son.The plot itself was well done - on that alone, I would have given 4 stars - but there were a few mistakes in the technical aspects that had me blinking. As another reviewer wrote, people say they're not able to make it for dinner - and are then present at dinner. There are other mistakes such as those that get frustrating over time, and I wonder who edited this novel. That said, this was much better than "The Hanged Man," which was my first TJ MacGregor book, and I will look for other novels from this author - I'll just be really careful to read the first chapter or so before buying. "Seventh Sense," was a book super-saturated with characters - a few times I got a little lost ("Who is this guy?"), but otherwise, the mystery of it was well done. The psychics come off very plausible, and the supporting character of the wife of the man who committed the hit-and-run stole the show. If you like psychic fiction, and can handle factual mistakes in the plot, you'll like this one. 'Nathan

This review is from: The Seventh Sense (Mass Market Paperback)
This book opens with Frank Benedict, an infuriated lawyer who has just lost a multi-million dollar client for his law firm. He has had too much to drink. Driving home that night through a heavy storm, he sees a car up ahead and procedes to disobey every traffic law on the books and rams it intentionally with his BMW at high speed. Not satisfied, he backs up and rams the car again at very high speed. Our main character, FBI agent Charlie (short for Charlotte) Calloway, falls on the ground outside the car in the pouring rain. Benedict smugly thinks of her as some fat thing that fell on the ground amd speeds off toward home - hiding his own mangled car in the garage.
Meanwhile that "fat thing" Benedict saw was a very pregnant Charlie in the process of losing her baby, while her husband lies dead in the driver's seat. The next morning Benedict manages to tell his wife about the accident and further convinces her to go along with a plan to cover up his crime. Benedict still feels absolutely no remorse, but his wife is eaten up with tremendous remorse regarding the crime and the cover-up scheme she and her husband created - making her an accessory to the crime. We watch Benedict's marriage begin the unravel - Benedict begins to scheme against his own wife. Meanwhile, Charlie begins to recover from the loss of her husband and baby. She teams up with a fellow FBI agent who has managed to coax a psychic retired FBI agent out of retirement to hunt down the killer of Charlie's husband and baby. Things really begin to take off at the point. We find out that something in Benedict snaps when he is angry. You'll have to read the book to find out the other things he does. Charlie and her team gear up and find out more and more from things the psychic agent can feel. I would have liked to give this a 4-1/2 star review. It loses 1/2 star due to the mix of having Charlie develop some psychic skills and an old woman in the story also has some psychic skills. You know the saying, too many cooks in the kitchen .... well, too many psychics in this story took away 1/2 a star for me. Still, I would recommend this as a good read - I read it in two sittings. I would have read it in one sitting if it weren't for the too many psychics thing - I had to put the book down and walk away at one point in the middle. Still, I picked it up the next evening and was completely engrossed in the story enough to stay put in one spot until it was finished.

THE ULTIMATE ROAD RAGE,
By Michael Butts (Berkeley Springs, WV USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Seventh Sense (Mass Market Paperback)
...what is with the person showing up for dinner? If I remember correctly, Logan said he wasn't going to show, but there is a scene where he is sitting on the beach and decides to change his mind? If that's not the one, did I miss something? Oh, well, anyway McGregor continues in her Koontz mode with this interesting tale of road rage gone to the extreme. Frank Benedict is one of those high powered lawyers who cannot tolerate failure, and it seems that is the case when he feels he's going to lose a client, he's drunk, mad and decides to take it out on the innocent Charlie Calloway and her husband. Charlie's also pregnant, but loses the baby. Her quest for revenge leads her into an uneasy alliance with Logan, a man who after dying for eleven minutes, developed a psychic ability to touch something and "read it." Charlie, too, died briefly and she has a similar type of psychic ability. Among the other supporting characters is an Alzheimer patient who witnessed the crash; Frank's wife, Anita, who becomes a strong focal point in the novel's last scenes; and other various FBI agents and such. McGregor keeps her pace pretty well, and although she does write in cliches, her prose seems natural and therefore extremely readable. McGregor will never achieve Koontz's fame, but in writing in similar venues, she will probably keep a loyal following.
