5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome read!, January 19, 2007
This review is from: The Seventh Tower, Vols. 1-3 (Hardcover)
The Seventh Tower by Garth Nix is an action filled and extremely interesting book. Garth Nix, an avid reader by just age 6, is a genius when it comes to writing. Although this book has a lot of pages, trust me, you will never be bored. This is how the story goes, A young boy named Tal becomes the head of his family when his father goes missing with the family's primary sunstone (a magical stone that gives the holder of the stone the power to bend and shape light) Tal must get another sunstone quickly or else Tal and his family will lose there power within the village and be banished to the Red order, the lowest class in the village. On Tal's Epic quest he must venture over hundreds of miles of ice only to discover a lone ice tribe full of people who hate any thing to do with Shadow bending. Will Tal ever get another sunstone? Will he and his family be banished to the Red Order? Read The Seventh Tower by Garth Nix to find out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, true to the Nix style., January 8, 2012
This review is from: The Seventh Tower, Vols. 1-3 (Hardcover)
My first series by Garth Nix was the Sabriel series which I fell in love with. I read all of the books as fast as I could. When I got The Seventh Tower I was really excited to read it but I had a line of books in front of it. I just started it over break and finished it the other night at work. It was really good, the one thing I hadn't realized when I got it at Barnes and Noble though was that it was only books 1-3 out of 6. I was frustrated as to where it left me, I want to know what happens. Garth Nix is a great writer and I suggest you check out either the Sabriel series or The Seventh Tower series.

In The Seventh Tower Garth Nix introduces you to the world of the Chosen, a group of people who live inside a castle on a hill. The main character, Tal, gets sent over the side of the castle on a mission to save his family. On the other side of the castle walls Tal finds a world that he never knew existed. From there a wild mission through both this new world and the spirit world ensues Tal starts to become friends with his traveling companion, an Icecarl named Milla.

The way Nix draws you into his world is both immersive and outstanding. I felt like I was right alongside Tal living his adventure. The new creatures and worlds were true to the style I saw in Sabriel. I highly recommend going out and buy a copy, it is well worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Books for Kids and Adults!, December 21, 2010
This review is from: The Seventh Tower, Vols. 1-3 (Hardcover)
I love this series! I read it when I was about 12, and even though I am now 20 years old, I still read all of the books, and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The world that Nix creates draws you in, and though it is dark at times, it is highly entertaining and creates something real and relatable to the reader. I highly recommend this series for anyone who likes the fantasy genre.
