....and highly recommended for understanding them. Although the author doesn't free himself entirely from the turgidity that marks much of the psychoanalytic literature, he lays out a number of clinically useful formulations having to do with his pioneering work with characterologically ill patients.

Otto Kernberg's insights into the rocks and shoals of personality disorders have been an invaluable aid in working with those who have Borderline, Narcissistic, and Antisocial Personalities, and the related types of Characterological disorders. As with any of the old school or psychoanalytic bent, don't be scared to use your thesaurus. Lord knows they never were!
