A classic all-around inflatable boat, this six-person Sevylor Super Caravelle (model XR116GTX-7) is made of extra heavy, special quality PVC. It can accept Sevylor's optional SBM 12V electric motor, and its patented motor support chamber can handle a gas outboard motor with a maximum power of 3.5 horsepower. In production for over 37 years, the Caravelle was the first Sevylor boat to feature the DIN safety chamber, which inflates inside the main outer chamber and will help keep you afloat if the outer chamber suffers a major hole. Other features include four patented Delrin swivel oarlocks, tunnel chambers on the bottom of the boat for support and tracking, and a Boston valve.

About Sevylor
In 1948 in Vitry, a small suburb of Paris, France, Berco Grimbert created an electronics company called Societe Electronique de Vitry, or SEVY for short. Soon, a friend of Grimbert's from New York commissioned SEVY to produce high frequency welding machines capable of fusing a new material called PVC (poly vinyl chloride). SEVY's machines worked very well and the American friend developed a very successful business manufacturing swimming pool related products. He then taught SEVY how to work with PVC.

One of the first PVC products SEVY produced was inflatable bathtub called Dou Dou. It was an instant hit in postwar France--mothers could bathe their children even where no facilities were available. The media hailed Dou Dou as a significant invention. Soon, SEVY added small pools and flotation devices such as rings, beach balls, and inflatable swim jackets to its product line. Safe, hygienic products, made of PVC and designed for portability, durability and convenience, became the SEVY trademark.

The company quickly outgrew its small facilities in Vitry. Mr. Grimbert accepted an attractive offer from the French government to take over a defunct textile factor in the tiny Alsatian village of Buhl. After establishing its new headquarters, the company added the letters "lor" to its name, and became Sevylor. In French, l'or means gold. By coincidence, or possibly fate, Sevylor has proven to be "as good as gold" to its owners, retailers, consumers, and employees.

Origanaly called the "Caravelle", the first oval boat manufactured in the world to incorporate DIN construction (boat within a boat safety chambers). Over the years, numerous improvements were made to the boat including the addition of tunnel chambers to the bottom of the boat (to help with tracking and stability), swivel oarlocks (for ease of rowing), a motor mount bustle chamber (to support gas motors up to 3.5 HP) and improvements in the PVC material used in the construction of the boats making them the new SUPER CARAVELLES. I live in south florida and wanted a boat but didn't want to spend a lot of money. I've been using this for about 8 months now, with a 40 lbs trolling motor. With that setup it goes about 3-4 mph. I've literally gone hundreds (well at least over 100) of miles up and down the inter coastal with this thing and haven't had any problems. Sometimes I'll tie up the two person boat to hold gear and with that setup it holds 4 adults comfortably. I haven't had any leaks except on the seams, which were patched up with sevylor seamseeler. I use a floor and I think the weight of the battery with me sitting on the battery box was the reason for the small leak. Overall very satisfied. The only down side is it has a lot of chambers and is kinda annoying to blow up and deflate since not all the valves are boston valves.

I took this boat to Maine on my vacation and I like it. But when you go fishing there is only enough room for two big adults.But it still good for price-quality.

so I can put my stuff in it, plus a battery while having plenty of room for myself and another person. The 45 lb thrust trolling motor I use on it which works really well with this boat, but it really needs some type of battery pouch to tuck the battery away in. I like the fact I can sit anywhere on the sides of the boat without sinking down into the water or getting wet. It has very big tubes that are also very comfy for lounging against. The bow is so big I can lay my body on it and just totally relax while looking down into the water watching the fish play.

The oar locks work great and so do the big inflatable seats, which can be used as pillows or rests because they are soft. It's a great looking inflatable, tough, rugged, and a great value!
