I just got my Sevylor Samoa today, and I was very pleased with its performance. After looking time and again, I finally found it at the price I wanted and free shipping was included, so I went ahead and bought it! For the price, about half of that of a 'China Built' SUP or 1/3 of a USA built board it performs well and is WAY worth it.Observations: As fast as standard hard board in its size class in flat water. Way bouncier in choppy water, to the point that you can get bounced off the board if you're not careful. The round rails and short skegs make it harder to control than a standard board; I got maybe 3 to 4 strokes per side, while I average about 6 on my other board. Flexibility helps while dropping into waves but bleeds off speed making waves harder to catch. The portability really tips the scale towards making it a great deal!

Great for $$ and portability,

The complete package for this SUP board is really great. You can tell alot of thought went into everything just by the quality of the carrier bag.If you're going to use this for Lake, travel, or general exercise this is great. If you're going to use it for performance or SUP surfing waves you'll probably want to consider a firm epoxy board. Portability is fantastic on this board in a small complete package. The main drawback is inflating this thing. IT IS A WORKOUT in itself just inflating it.

Beyond expectations,

Beyond expectationsI did not expect the board to be stiff enough for a 200 lb man to stand on but even under inflated at 7 lb (recommended 10 lb) it was very stiff and only flexed about 4". The skags all run straight so it tends not to turn. Dragging the paddle works well on turn. Awesome ride in a small bag. I am looking forward to being able to fly with a big board and not have to rent.

I love this paddleboard. I could have never managed a fiberglass version because it would have been so heavy. I first used a fiberglass stand-up paddleboard in Puerto Rico. To buy that product was $3300 plus the cost of the paddle. I feel very comfortable on this board and was pleasantly surprised at how durable it is - I just didn't expect much since it was a blow-up version. I take it to the Lake everday to exercise - already made 15 trips. I really wanted to buy it last year but kept thinking I would wait and get a fiberglass one. I am so glad I quit waiting. I meet people everyday at the lake that think it's the coolest thing ever. No one realizes it's a blow-up version because it is made out of such durable material.

Great for travel,

Wanted to bring a paddleboard on family 2week vacation by the beach. Stiff boards too unwieldly, expensive to travel with and Airlines just won't accept anything over 9'6". This board totally fit the bill. At 30 lbs and with it's own travel bag, it was easy to check on the plane. Performance-wise it was a perfect family, beginner/intermediate board. The kids could play on it and because it was inflatable, there were no bumps/bruises. Me and my wife could take it out for paddles and it worked/performed like a charm.

Pleasantly Surprised For An INFLATABLE Item,
This review is from: Sevylor Samoa Stand-Up Paddleboard (Sports)
I was dubious about getting a "blow up" item like this. I really struggled with it, especially since it was through the mail and I was not able to see the quality, and the mil thickness of the PVC. It is very heavy duty and sturdy. One would not know it is an inflatable board unless they inspected it closely. My purpose in getting this was to be able to go out to our sailboat that is moored in the bay. My kayak was too hard to get close to the swim ladder without banging up the boat not to mention trying to stand up in moving water in the kayak and also get back in. This board would not damage the boat due to the PVC, plus I would already be standing and could grab the swim ladder easier and climb aboard. Well, at 61, I decided standing on the board, in the bay, with the moving water was a little more than I wanted to tackle. I end up either sitting or kneeling on the board for stability. It does move very quickly which gets me out to the boat in short time. It is very easy to stop the board (I put a hook on my paddle and grab the ladder with it), tie up both ends, stand up and get up on the ladder, as well as returning to it in stand up position, untie it and then kneel or sit down. I have a bad back so the sitting is not as comfortable as the kneeling. I do not have the strength to pump it up to its capacity but it is still very firm even at half the limit. I am 150 lbs. It is still a little heavy and bulky for me to transport but still easier to roll up and put in the hatchback of my little 2 seater Honda Insight than my small kayak. The price was much better than the other boards. All I can speak for is the need it fulfills for me. Probably not for a serious surfer but for the average person who just wants to have fun, get some exercise or meet a need like mine, it is great. Due to the thickness of the PVC, I do not worry about the durability or strength of the board while in use or sliding over the bulkhead or sand with logs and rocks.

My wife loves her new inflatable StandUp Paddle board. It is sturdy and stable. She has used both the solid board and now the inflatable as well as he friends and says the performance is very similar. I love it because it is easy to blow up, deflate and store. She loves the workout and fun on the water. Glad I bought it.

this board is light, easy to inflate and carry around. it is fairly stable in the water and easy to maneuver. although it is designed for standing up paddling, I find it goes much faster and more stable when I kneel down or sit. However, if you are heavier, say over 180 pounds, you would sink when you stand up.

Great SUP for the price and convenience,
This review is from: Sevylor Samoa Stand-Up Paddleboard (Sports)
I got mine about 6 months ago, primarily for travel as I have a Laird here in LA. I figured that it would be a piece of junk but what can you expect for the price! However, I was really suprised by just how sturdy and maneagable this thing is. Plus, it is perfect for beginners as it is soft enough to fall down on. I let me 9 year old niece learn on this and it worked out great. I even used mine to do a little bit of yoga and push ups, which I wouldn't want to necessarily do on my Laird. The convenience of this was amazing. I took mine to Sicily without a problem. If there is one area where I have a bit of an issue with that would be the paddle. While convenient as it breaks down in to 3 pieces, it is a little short for me and not quite as sturdy as my usual paddle (which costs almost as much as the entire board, paddle, etc.). I would highly recommend this.
