This is a nice reference book if you are trying to decide whether to purchase a ready-made wedding dress, whether you have the sewing skills to do so, or if it will be economical. The book provides a lot of information in assisting you in designing or choosing your wedding dress design. It is a book you would want to take to a discussion with a professional seamstress to aid in designing your dress.

The reason I can only give it three stars is that you will need other reference materials before you begin to sew. The book would have been improved if it had color photographs.

I got this book to help me design and sew my daughter's wedding dress. She found a designer dress in a magazine and I found a vintage pattern to make her gown. I have just started the dress so, I have to see how it turns out. I have been sewing for years but, the type of material she picked was different so I need help. This book was a recommended book and was within my price range. I bought it and another about couture sewing. Book looks a lot different from the photo but so far has been very helpful. Most of the other recommended books are marked up to high on the site for me.

This is a good concise book with a traceable bride for your ideas. God hints for wedding planning as well as a timeline.
You need to be knowledgable with sewing, not a beginners book. Brief chapters with hints and sketches that you may overlook if it weren't for these reminders.
Not all of us sew formal wear every day and it may have been several years between the prom gowns and the wedding gowns. I know I will refer to this book many times while creating the wedding dress of my future daugher-in-law.
