I bought this item because I had an over worked shoulder. I had read that it would reduce stress on my shoulders. I am not sure if it helped or not, so I will say it may have helped. As I was in physical therapy also. I was surprised by the high price for a simple (although sturdy) plastic item. It came with two little plastic squares with slots, maybe legs, I can't tell for sure. I didn't receive instructions with them. If they are legs, I couldn't figure out how to use them or make them stable, so I couldn't adjust the height. My surger fits on it fine. My sewing machine has an opening, flip out front for storage (Janome), that couldn't open when on this table. So, I used the plastic squares to hold the machine back, by placing them in between the machine and front table ledge. I told my mother about this table and she promptly put a thick magazine under the back edge of her machine, she saved $50 and got the same effect. As soon as my shoulder felt better, I removed the table, because I just didn't like the inconvience of lifting machines on and off. plus, a lot of dust and sewing bits gather on and under the table. I had to lift and clean a lot. Which didn't help my recovery. This is one purchase I would not repeat.

Although I balked at spending as much for this as I did for my sewing machine, sewing hunched over so I could see where the needle was caused my back to protest. I figured it was cheaper than a doctor's visit, so I decided to give it a try. The first thing I noted was not that my back pain lessoned, but that it was easier to sew a straight seam. It did make a huge difference as regards to my back pain - though I would recommend that you do some exercises to strengthen your back as well.

If you do a lot of sewing, this accessory really helps relieve neck and shoulder stress. I don't know why tilting the machine up a few degrees makes such a difference, but it does. I love mine. It makes sewing much more comfortable!
