Frustrated,

I have to admit that I have never used a hand machine before, however I am familiar with sewing machines. I am a very patient person and spent hours on end trying to use it to do some basic hemming on the go. After days and days trying to adjust the tension, I have finally given up. This thing frustrated me to no end and has effectively scared me enough that I am extremely tentative about buying a new (non-portable) machine. The price clearly reflects its quality. I would rather buy a new shirt with my $30 than waste it on this useless piece of plastic.

Can't Do The Job,
By ladyfern31 (Northern CA, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: SewPro SP-403 Portable Sewing Machine (Kitchen)
We were full-time RVers, and had need for a sewing machine at times, but no room. We thought a little hand held like this would be able to mend or hem the occasional garment. We were wrong. My husband could get it to work a few times, but I never had any luck with it. The stitches were too loose, or the thread would break. It wasn't the tension, since it was left alone once my husband got it to work. It proved to be a better source of frustration than just mending or hemming by hand.
