Product Description

Be the first on your block to show off the most energy efficient, reliable, and safe lights available: LED Christmas lights. They burn a fraction of the energy and produce a fraction of the heat as normal Christmas lights, and will last much longer too. Features These lights are just like normal Christmas lights. They plug into any North American outlet and include a control box which allows you to let them blink, slowly twinkle, or solidly stay on. Why LED? LED lights burn roughly 1/6 of the energy as normal light bulbs, giving your energy bill a much needed break during the holiday season. Since they burn little energy, they are also considered safer and far less likely to start a fire.

I ordered these right after Thanksgiving, so when I started seeing awful reviews from the beginning of December, I was worried. The listing changed, the picture changed... I know there are several different sellers linked to these lights. I got mine from LED Wholesalers in CA (the ones fulfilled by Amazon sold out as I was putting my order in).

I decided to take a video of the lights in action - one full cycle. They'll keep getting and more out of sych the longer they're on, so you won't end up with a tree cycling through the same colors (that was a worry)

Each bulb does, in fact, cycle through all the colors. The wires are green.
I'm quite happy with them and can't wait to get them on the tree.

I bought these because I wanted something cool and different for my Christmas tree this year. I was so excited when I unwrapped the package because they were the perfect size for what I was looking for. They are cute little white bulbs when the lights are off. The packaging was excellent. They were well-protected and wrapped.

I didn't even bother unwrapping the bundle. I wanted to see what the colors looked like. I found the end of the light string and plugged it into the same outlet that I have other LED lights plugged into. They glowed and were beautiful. I actually squeaked a little in excitement, imagining how good they were going to look.

Suddenly, the speed of the light changed and I saw fire shoot out of the cord. There was a connector toward the bottom of the power cord that looks like it did some sort of conversion from the wall outlet. It literally blew off when the flames shot out! Luckily, the fire didn't continue or smolder or anything. But it was very disconcerting and scary.

As beautiful as the lights were for the 30 seconds or so that I saw them, I can't recommend a product that catches fire and is supposed to be on a tree.

The color changing effect looks nice. Each bulb fades through red, blue, and green several times, fades through pink, and yellow several times, and then repeats the pattern blinking. The bulbs are not synchronized, so after the strand is on for a few minutes, this creates a nice twinkling effect.

The strand I received was defective. One section of lights would flicker a few times when plugged in and then go out. I am returning the strand for a refund, since it was shipped from Amazon, but I was unable to get a replacement since this product is no longer available shipped from Amazon.

Update:

A year later, these are still the nicest lights I could find on Amazon (aside from the really expensive GE Color Effects lights), so I decided to try again. I ordered two sets from different sellers (both fulfilled by Amazon), and they do actually work this time. However, though the two sets have the same name, they came in different boxes, look somewhat different, and have completely different model numbers... which I find a little odd. One is very bright and produces an almost white color over all. The second is a little dimmer, especially the green, so it looks more purple overall. I wouldn't say it's worse, just different.

Since the different colors are controlled by each individual light, the dim green means the actual bulbs must have been manufactured differently between the two sets. Most likely one is from last year and the second is from a more recent production run. (If I remember correctly, the portion of my first set that actually worked looked identical to the dimmer set, and it came in a similar box.) Just be aware if you're ordering multiple sets that they may be slightly different. I'll leave the star rating as it is, since the mismatched sets do limit the placement possibilities of the lights.

Aside from that, I think the blinking / fading effect is quite nice.

This is what you get when you order this item now. Each bulb is only one color. You may notice that the globes easily fall off.

Don't be fooled! These things change colors so fast it's obnoxious. I watched the video and ordered because I wanted the slow changing colors advertised. Mine arrived and I plugged them in and the room turned into raging discotech; just add Donna Summer, Bee Gee's, Village People and Chic!

These lights are great, but there is no consistency between orders. Some people receive strands with solid colored bulbs that blink, others receive color changing bulbs. People received strands on black, clear, or white wire. Some sets fade slowly and others change extremely fast.

Product description clearly states that you can connect strings. ***There is no plug on the opposite end to connect to!***

I BOUGHT 2 SETS AND RECEIVED LIGHTS THAT I LOVE, BUT THEY ARE NOT AS ADVERTISED. I FOUND AN EXTENSION CORD THAT HAD MORE THAN 1 PLUG AND I RAN IT UP THE TREE SO I COULD START IN THE MIDDLE AND USE BOTH SETS, 1 UP THE TREE AND 1 ON THE LOWER PORTION. THESE ARE BRIGHT AND BEAUTFUL LIGHTS. THEY CATCH THE EYE FROM A LONG DISTANCE. MINE ARE COLOR CHANGING WHITE BULBS ON A BLACK WIRE. THEY CHANGE COLOR VERY RAPIDLY. I HAVE RECEIVED MANY COMMENTS ON THEM, BUT FOR THE PRICE A PERSON NEEDS TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY WILL BE RECEIVING. I WOULD TRULY WATCH FOR AN AFTER CHRISTMAS SALE TO BUY MORE FOR NEXT YEAR, BUT I AM TOO AFRAID. MY CHANCES OF GETTING AN IDENTICAL SET SEEM TO BE SLIM TO NONE.
