Very easy to install.

The binding posts are a bit difficult to connect bare wire to, but with careful threading and tightening it appears to hold.

The short story is, the metal connections work fantastically with banana clips as they should. They're easy to load from the back and hold the front clips snuggly. While perhaps not advertised as such, the face plate is also paintable (mine is matched to my wall color).

The bad news is I ordered two of these and the female-female HDMI connection is a hunk of junk. Both of them were broken in some way that made an otherwise working signal show up as static when passing through. In the end I had already cut the 3-gang hole in my wall, so I decided to keep the plate, and unscrew the HDMI from the plate so that i could pass the in-wall HDMI cable through to connect directly to the receiver. Definitely not a pinnacle of quality, but whatever, it's hidden behind some furniture anyway.

That said, I think 3 out of 5 is pretty generous.

It's hard to do any better for the price (I paid $21.39 with prime shipping). It works as expected and I have no complaints. Just be aware that the HDMI connector is version 1.3 which is slightly outdated..

I bought this product for my home theater room. Projector, check. Speakers, check. A/V amplifier, check, Blue Ray, check. After many hard working days, everything is finally coming together. I was very excited to plug everything in and sit back ready for the big show. But I ended up very disappointed because the picture was horrible. I spent two days on testing every single component and finally found out the HDMI binding post is bad. This would be last component that I could think of. How can they sell stuff that did not go through the very basic quality control?

I installed this wall plate for a basement home theatre setup. I utilized a Vanco low voltage bracket behind this wall plate and everything installed great and functions well. This unit offers plenty of connections for a myriad of system options. If you are not running a 7.1 setup, you can always use the other connections for a Zone 2 system or Zone 3 system.

This item came exactly as shown. The binding posts are a bit difficult to connect bare wire to, but with careful threading and tightening it appears to hold. The bayonet plugs fit fine and work fine! Good looking unit. Would recommend if you want a clean looking theater setup.

The HDMI port could not stand even the slightest pressure when attaching the input cable. The microscopic screws that held the F/F connector to the frame didn't even have a full turn of thread into the very soft plastic onto which it was mounted. The connector popped off of the back of the frame and I had to disassemble and repair with glue. Screw depth will never tolerate anything more that a mere glance at seating the cable connector. Also, I may have a bad HDMI connector as the signal to the TV appears to be inconsistant and I have eliminated all the cables as culprits.

It took me a few minutes looking at this, but I ended up getting this mounted securely. I bought just a 3-wide (blue Home Depot) electrical box to mount it, which did work. I cut the back of the box to make it thinner as these are low voltage wires and it's not a safety hazard. I used my dremmel tool with a cutting wheel and removed half of the blue box's depth. I also didn't want to have to slide all those wires through the back of the box. I mounted the box into the wall.

I then disassembled this plate and wired each section 1 at at time. For the speakers' wires, I stripped the wires so that I had about a 1 diameter of the wire's width sticking out on the far end of the post, and 2 diameters of the wire's width of stripped wire on the other end of the post (A US Navy standard). This allows the wire to bend a little as you handle it, without breaking. Don't twist the strands of the wire after stripping the end...leave them as they are (you can twist the very tip of the wire if you find it's splitting when you insert it through the post), but otherwise, with the length described above. Strip and install one wire at a time! That way, you lessen the chance of the wires spreading on you. You insert the wire though the post and then screw down the post tight. On the far end of the post, you'll see the wire spread out (that's why you don't twist the wire) and there's a bevel where that 2-4 millimeter end will bend down and the connector tightens smoothly and evenly on the wire. That's because you didn't twist the strands of wire first!!! Rinse and repeat for all the other wires. Make sure you don't leave too much sticking out to cause a short.

Then screw each white section to the blue box (I don't think they came with the 6 screws, or I dropped them)...

I either missed it, or it's not mentioned in the specs, but the HDMI port on this is labeled on the package as 1.3B. Before opening it, I searched the other reviews on this and other sites, and other folks confirmed that the 1.3 HDMI port didn't support newer functionality like Audio return. I never did find an answer if it would support 3D, so I decided not to risk it and returned it to Amazon.

The quality of the product looked pretty nice... too bad about the hdmi.
