Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

What Hastings promises in her title is truly delivered--an encyclopedia of tricks of the trade for the more experienced sewer. Although the book's actual organization needs a makeover (e.g., information on knits is preceded by totally unrelated subsections on zippers, collars, and necklines), the dozens of illustrated ideas will prove to be time-savers. Most of the techniques involve dressmaking and tailoring details that will make the difference between a professional and an amateur job--such as creating all-in-one facings or using a blanket-binding stitch. Two chapters, in particular, were written for stitchers with more enthusiasm than experience: one on the uses of different machine "feet," and the second featuring the top 10 notions to incorporate in the sewing kit. Barbara Jacobs --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
