5.0 out of 5 stars Soilent Green Is Better Than Anyone!!!!!!!!
I've had this CD for a while but I've just been too damn lazy to write a review for it. Soilent Green has got to be the most innovative grind band that I have heard in a long time. They take elements of grind, rock and some blues riffs that makes for a damn good combination of styles. There isn't a soft spot on this album. The only break you get from the intensity are the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Soilent Green is people!
There's no denying that these guys can play. Their music is powerful, aggresive, brutal and very complex. Also the artwork is very good.
That being said, I find that many of the tracks are difficult to distinguish from one another. They all have essentially the same start-stop formulas. Here I think the music's complexity works against it. The band is so focused on...

The only break you get from the intensity are the intros to Build Fear and Her Unsober Ways which after a few seconds give way to the real meat of the song. Alot of the lyrics deal with sexual violence and extreme hate. The album art is in the art deco style and fits the attitude of the music well. There isnt much more I can say about this album other than it is one of the best albums ever released and I stand behind that comment 100%!!!! Soilent Green will get into your brain and stay there

5.0 out of 5 stars The pantera of grind., October 13, 2004
This review is from: Sewn Mouth Secrets (Audio CD)
Soilent green sounds between a mix of pantera, bbts, and, today is the day mixed together which is not bad at all. I remenber having my first listing to sg's songs and being realy impressive by their drummer. For any one that loves a more modern grind sound that resembles pantera, today is the day, and, burnt by the sun ? I recommend.

Right now is an exciting time to be a metal fan, and Soilent Green are one very prominent reason why. With punishing sludge and blindingly fast grind having long been established as metal's opposite poles, Soilent Green boldly defy convention by combining these two extremes into one incredibly potent concoction. Not everyone will appreciate Soilent Green's demented genius, but those who get it will truly get it. Creativity, complexity, and raw, primal aggression are all thrown into a blender on "Sewn Mouth Secrets," resulting in what is unquestionably one of the best metal albums of the past decade. Sounding like the Dillinger Escape Plan might sound if they had emerged from a swamp, Soilent Green serve up a non-stop onslaught of punishing dynamics and stunning technicality that rivals any band in the genre. The vocals, careening back and forth between between throaty growls and high-pitched shrieks for maximum insanity, are the perfect complement to the band's schizophrenic riff structures and and devastating rhythm section. If any one song is worth singling out, it's probably "Openless," if only because it crams more sonic mayhem into 23 seconds than most bands can summon up in an entire career. However, there isn't a single song on here that I wouldn't recommend; each one is a visceral, headbanging classic. The album's constant tempo changes have an unsettling effect that I can only assume is intentional, and they ensure that it's never a boring listen. "Sewn Mouth Secrets" is a deeply disturbed (and disturbing) album, and I mean that in the best possible way. After I got this CD I threw it in my car stereo and ended up letting it play through three times in a row, and if you're any kind of metal fan you'll probably have a similar experience with it. If you don't own "Sewn Mouth Secrets," your metal collection is incomplete, plain and simple.

5.0 out of 5 stars ever been hit by a ton of bricks?, April 22, 1999

if there is one word to describe this disk, it would be "tight". besides being one of the heaviest bands going, the 'green are musicians. in a genre of balls to the wall, incoherrant growling, soilent green embarresses most death metal bands. these guys have made the perfect sounding music. months after getting this disk, i am still amazed by the music. no fancy studio production here, for i have seen these guys live 3 times. soilent green is my favorite band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extreme Sludge/Grindcore, November 1, 2005
By
This review is from: Sewn Mouth Secrets (Audio CD)
I first heard Soilent Green when I listened to some samples of their music online, and I was pretty amazed. So I decide to get into them since they remided me alot of Pantera at times, and yesterday I bought "Sewn Mouth Secrets", and after listening to it over and over, I just gotta say, that IT was one of the finest metal albums I've ever listened to. This album is pure extreme blend of death, grind, and southern-fried sludgecore that is nasty, insane, intense, and of course in your face. The lyrics are no doubt quite disturbing dealing with sexual violence and extreme hatred. Ben Falgoust is an awesome vocalist who blends black metal-esque screams and throaty yells that remind me alot of Phil Anselmo at times. Brian Patton and Donovan Punch have crunching guitar riffs that will just beat you senseless. You've also got some nice bass lines from Scott Williams, and excellent drumming from Tommy Buckley as well. Please read on for my song ratings.
themetalbeast's ratings:
1. It Was Just An Accident - 5/5
2. So Hatred - 5/5
3. Build Fear - 5/5
4. Looking Through Nails - 5/5
5. Breed In Weakness - 5/5
6. Cold-Steel Kiss - 5/5
7. Openless - 5/5
8. Her Unsober Ways - 5/5
9. Sewn Mouth Secrets - 5/5
10. Walk A Year In My Mind - 5/5
11. Gagged W***e - 5/5
12. Emptiness Found - 5/5
13. Sticks And Stones - 5/5

See every song on here gets a 5 out of 5.

Overall, highly recommended for fans of Crowbar, Eyehategod, Acid Bath, and of course the almighty Pantera. Buy it now.

This is the best album of '99. These guys mix up their musical styles by incorporating death metal, southern groove, grindcore (supreme), and good old-fashioned metal. Excellent production, incredibly intricate and precise musicianship, deranged lyrics, and insane time changes make this album unforgettable. You hear something new each time that you listen to it. Get this album and be challenged! By the way, everyone do yourself a favor and ignore Marcos!

5.0 out of 5 stars Drowning in Swampy Grooves, November 30, 1998
By
This review is from: Sewn Mouth Secrets (Audio CD)
After an impressive three song appetizer, Soilent Green have released a musical feast, Sewn Mouth Secrets. This band mixes metallic hardcore, grindcore and swampy New Orleans grooves with surgical precision. Most of the songs move along at a furious pace, but suddenly turn in to down-tempo, sludge and groove laden masterpieces. This CD is must for fans of Eyehategod, Crowbar, Iron Monkey and grincore of all types.

5.0 out of 5 stars so hatred, June 6, 2005
By
This review is from: Sewn Mouth Secrets (Audio CD)
soilent green, what can i say. these guys rock. blistering grind with a prominent southern feel the whole way through. feels like you just got the wind knocked out of you. i think all the bands in the southern metal genre are so much different from the next one which is unbelievable compared to all the other sub genres of metal. thats what make them all so amazingly talented. soilent green are no exception. elements of hardcore, death, grind and like i said southern metal throughout. my only complaint is that they only have 3 albums i got DSFTBD first a few years back and sooon after i picked up sewn mouth secrets. for a while pussysoul was hard to find but im finally completing my colllection with that. but i think out of all 3 albums sewn mouth is the best. its intense, lyrics are just as gritty as the music and it all comes together to create something i couldnt live without after my first listen. so full of hate and dysfunction it makes me homesick for the good ol south. if your reading this theres a dam good chance your familiar with southern metal so dont doubt the value of this masterpiece and just but it. i promisse it will be well worth your money. and for those of you also into black metal check ouy goatwhore, members of soilent green and acid bath the best of both worlds how can u go wrong?

4.0 out of 5 stars Soilent Green - Sewn Mouth Secrets, January 24, 2012

The item arrived very quickly, within a matter of 3-4 days so I was very pleased about that. The cd I ordered was in decent condition, no visible marks of any kind. The only issue would be a crack in the case .. which is a small issue considering this was a used cd and a more than reasonable price for it. All in all, great purchase, great seller.
