5.0 out of 5 stars Cleverly written common sense tips for a fabulous marriage!
Leman is a comic with a vital message for healthy marriages. His common sense tips for improving your marriage and your sex life are actually things that can be easily incorporated into your life.

His writing style is clever, not churchy. Although, you know the message he delivers has a Christian foundation.

This book was a blessing in my marriage.

3.0 out of 5 stars A book of books
You've got to love this book's title! The content is pretty good too.

This book seemed like a Readers Digest form of many books: Gary Chapman's "Five Love Languages," Harley's "His Needs; Her Needs," Leyman's own book on birthorder, and others by H. Norman Wright, Larry Halter, and David Augsburger.

If you've read the other books, this is a good...

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended for ALL Couples!, June 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Sex Begins in the Kitchen: Because Love is an All Day Affair (Paperback)
Dr. Leman knows his stuff! He has the gift of being able to share his insights, wisdom and practical advice (guidelines, how to, and exercises -- not just talk) in an easily understandable, entertaining package. He explains both men's and women's perspectives to help us understand each other. He not only tells us the truth, he tells us how to cope and improve our lives. I promise you will see yourself and many others you know in these pages.

We can all use more wisdom to improve our marriages, and nothing is more important to our happiness. Many/most of us lacked good role models modeling healthy marriages while we were growing up. Many of the lessons we learned have not served us well. Even the lucky few with good role models will face unique challenges with their own spouses. So we can all benefit from learning better relationship skills.

Dr. Leman helps us to see that we have everything to gain by making our marriage our top priority in life. (Yes, even ahead of the children, who are #2. We've probably all seen parents who are blowing this concept.) IMO the section on communication is key. It's no news that men and women often don't communicate in the same way. Poor communication leads to misunderstandings, frustration and anger. Burying those feelings eventually backfires; they are always expressed in some form. The resulting emotional distance has destroyed many marriages. Dr. Leman gives practical guidelines on how to overcome our differences and strengthen the emotional bonds and intimacy that give us our deepest satisfaction in life.

This book is a fantastic bargain with life-enhancing potential. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, Dr. Leman!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sex Begins in the Ktchen, May 3, 2004

As a husband and pastor who works with many marriages, healthy and otherwise, I am most impressed with this book. The title doesn't really do it justice as it addresses a diverse range of subjects related to intimacy in marriage. The book is refreshingly honest and practical - addressing the issue of sex and intimacy with forthrightness, maturity and humor. Though, I know from experience that the greatest audience for books on relationships are women, I can guarantee that men will find this book extremely interesting, useful and fun to read! Way to go Dr. Leman!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sex and Kitchen?, September 3, 2003

What does a mess left in the kitchen have to do with sex?... Gentlemen, you will be surprised! :)

I would recommend this book to both engaged and already married couples. There are so many things to learn - and adjust to - when two people join together in marriage; there are differences in personality, temperament, upbringing. This book will help you to prepare for all that and more - or to get back on the right track if your marriage could use some advice.

If you've read the other books, this is a good maintenance check. If you've not, Leyman's synopsis may whet your appetite. Marriage seems about as natural as childbirth--you need to study to do it right! Leyman's book is a good touchpoint along the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Understands the Sexes, July 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Sex Begins in the Kitchen: Because Love is an All Day Affair (Paperback)
This book is obviously authored by someone who has a good understanding of both men and women. There were many insights and "a-ha" moments when I read this book. Another great book along these lines is THE ROMANTIC'S GUIDE by Michael Webb. He seems to know more about how to please a woman than any man I have ever met.
