1.0 out of 5 stars I need to quit believing these reviews, sheesh this is awful
Are you kidding me? This is just terrible. these guys were sort of innovators in the beginning, but the problem is that music caught up and surpassed them by a long way. Now they are still treading water where they were years ago and the result is incredibly boring. Take some 5th grade guitar player rock riffs mix it with cheesy monophonic keyboard lines and you pretty...

yes, it is part electronica, part rock...this album is pure brilliance. i first heard these guys when after reading about them i found their album "future world" at my local record store. i found that album so brilliant i rushed back and the only other cd they had was their most current, the one you are reading the review for...it rocks hard and it also is very relaxing...i had already known of this band through the brilliant and amazing f'ing champs, and was somewhat already introduced to them because i already owned the f'ing am-gold, which is half f'ing champs, half trans am...all that i can say is that if you are a fan of 1980's new wave, you like synth rock, and you like something totally different than what crap is offered on mainstream radio, give these guys a try, please! there is a tinge of punk rock and metal as well as prog offered here...if you like "kraut" rock like can, faust, amon duul, gong...you'll probably appreciate this as well...the only thing i don't like about this disc is the album title, which i think is totally stupid and kind of idiotic, but that may well be the reason they picked it, who knows...

The best Trans Am album yet. I was worried after "Liberation" but this truly is a brilliant album.

It may be ironic yet it's so damn good (GREAT) it transcends its own irony. Does that make sense? I think it does. You'll know what I mean when you buy it so just buy it.

Ok I don't actually have this CD (yet) but what I DID do was see these guys live last night opening for Tool in San Francisco. I had NO idea what to expect... some reviews I'd heard through the verbal grapevine were good, some were horrid. Your mileage may vary, basically. Frankly, I was blown away from the earliest notes. They started with a pounding synthesized keyboard drive, then added the drummer, some excellent baselines and guitar with plenty of feedback - and throughout the musical mood varied from song to song, sometimes during the same song. Some were highly danceable with a synthesized robotic voice; others were simply 'noise' creating waves of emotion. (Yes, it's hard to explain, you just have to hear it.)

The drummer in this band is phenomenal- a blur of motion and his timing is impeccable (his change-ups during songs were simply amazing). To say I was mesmerized by these guys is not enough, not having heard the likes of them since the 80's and early 90's. What came to mind was early Ministry meets Joy Division, add a dash of Rush and perhaps some My Bloody Valentine feedback minus the shoegaze aspect. Add some Kraftwerk, stir well, toss in a pinch of Front Line Assembly during their speed-guitar phase in the mid-90's (Millennium, etc.- aka the kind of stuff that makes you want to gleefully drive 90 mph while listening to it.) And voila'! Or maybe not, but that's as close as I can get.

95% of what they played was instrumental, no lyrics. Who needs lyrics when you have such a sound? It would have ruined it, IMO. Overall I was impessed and vow to follow up with these guys, having wished they played a longer set before Tool came on. I'm still not even sure how to classify their music.... nor did any of the people sitting near me. We had a good time trying to figure it out though.... Synth Rock? Ambient Rock? Industrial Pop? In any case and whatever it is, I loved every minute of it.

Are you kidding me? This is just terrible. these guys were sort of innovators in the beginning, but the problem is that music caught up and surpassed them by a long way. Now they are still treading water where they were years ago and the result is incredibly boring. Take some 5th grade guitar player rock riffs mix it with cheesy monophonic keyboard lines and you pretty much have trans am. At the end of their "rock" songs, they always pick one chord and just play it until you want to shoot yourself. The vocals are god awful, and the production is weak. I have no idea why the other people gave such good reviews of this record, they must be their friends or something.

Trans Am are a one trick pony that got lucky.

No sir, I don't like it. I want my money back.
