Okay, this a great collection of sexy tunes to accompany your idea of SEX AND THE CITY. But are you ready for the bad news? The theme song is not on here -- it's a very slow remix by GROOVE ARMADA. And if you are looking for the song "MORE,MORE,MORE" that they are using in the promos...it's not on here either. They have another remix which renders the song a little differently than what you are hearing on HBO. This is not a "true soundtrack" because none of these songs appear in the series. But if you are a fan of the artists, it is a worthy investment! I love the Missy Misdemeanor Elliot song "Hot Boyz". And Aimee Mann provides a poignant take on a couple that just won't work out (sort of Big and Carrie maybe) on "Calling It Quits". And the songs are all very good, but be warned that the music is altered from what you hear on the show.

Theme Song NOT on CD!,
By Ann Derrick (Dripping Springs, tx USA) - See all my reviews

I also bought this CD expressly for the salsa-like theme song, and was VERY disappointed to hear the sounds of traffic on city streets with some faint music in the background that was barely identifiable as the theme. It is so bad that I thought perhaps there had been an error in the production of it. The rest of the music on the CD is a waste of time. Too bad -- they could have done so much better!

Here's what they missed...,

I'm an avid SATC fan and have NEVER heard any of of these songs in any of the episodes. Perhaps they just wanted to theme it based on what the girls go through, especially Carrie and Big? Perhaps the Missy Elliot song was in homage to Samantha.
Either way my fellow fans, without further ado-- here's some songs you can get right on iTunes or at any music store. All stuff I'd normally never listen to but I frenzied to grab it on iTunes because I love the show so much. THE REAL SOUNDTRACK! 1. "Hot Stuff"- Donna Summer; when the ladies go to Staten Island in "Where There's Smoke There's Fire" 2. "Bad Girls"- Donna Summer; same episode and plays right after it 3. "Hot Child In The City"- Nick Gilder; theme song of the episode of the same name 4. "Got To Be Real"- Cheryl Lynn; recurs throughout "The Real Me" 5. "She Bangs"- Ricky Martin; on Miranda's walkman at the gym in the same episode 6. "Shazam!"- Spiderbait; Carrie strutting down the runway as the not-real her. (This single is hard to find though!) 7. "Shining Star"- Earth Wind & Fire; en route to the Fleet Week party in "Anchors Aweigh" 8. "Feelin Alright"- Joe Cocker; the Fleet Week party in the same episode 9. "Try A Little Tenderness"- Otis Redding; end of the party and credits. 10. "Good To Go"- Organic Audio; the club music at Bed in "The Post-It Always Sticks Twice" 11. "Smoke On The Water"- Deep Purple; what plays at the not-so-glamorous bar in the same ep 12. "In The Waiting Line"- Zero 7; ending of "The Domino Effect" 13. "Breathe"- Michelle Branch; ending of "The Catch" 14. "La Belle Et Le Bad Boy"- MC Solaar; the scenes of Carrie and Miranda running in "An American Girl In Paris Part Deux" There's a ton more I'm missing but this gives you a general idea. I'll update this if I can!

Why is it not possible...,
By
This review is from: Sex And The City: Music From The HBO Series (Audio CD)
...for someone to produce an album that actually bares any kind of reflection to the series? There were some great tracks used during the six series, modern and classics tracks alike.
So why are none of those here? I mean I love some of the tracks here but when where they in the show, ever? This album, to be fair, does a better job than the latter one which featured the likes of Britney Spears, I mean come on! But wouldn't it be nice to find out that some one had produced an album that was a chronological resume of all the great tracks from season one through six. Maybe then we might feel we had a "Sex and the City" album and were not just being cynically exploited for a fast buck!

Many many good songs missing... "These Boots Are Made For Walking" by Nancy Sinatra "New York State of Mind" by Billy Joel "Love hangover" by Diana Ross and "Moon River" from Harry Mancini just to name a few! These songs remind me of moments from the show and the ones on the soundtrack have no meaning to me! Too bad - I was a big fan looking for a Sex and the City fix for my ride into work :(

Deception and the City!,

My 1-star rating expresses my extreme dissapointment in the lack of the original theme song (my only reason for purchasing the CD). It may be barely legal to call the last track the theme, but it certainly is deceptive and unethical. SHAME ON DARREN STAR, STEVE GREENBERG, AND SANDY ALOUETE (and any other project staffers ...)!

THEME SONG IS NOT THE THEME SONG!,
By Mark D Sutton (Sydney, New South Wales Australia) - See all my reviews

I bought this CD for the Theme Song only, which I thought was track 13. WRONG! This is a stupid (not to mention long) version of the theme song and sounds tacky. If you want the theme song, DO NOT BUY this CD!

French song in final episode,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sex And The City: Music From The HBO Series (Audio CD)
Someone named Tara was looking for the song played in the final episode when Carrie was running down the street and Miranda was doing the same back in NY. The song is called La Belle et le bad boy by MC Solaar.

Music to chill to,

I am an avid watcher of the show, but not one of those die hard fans that know exactly what episode features each song etc. The soundtrack is pretty good, the major disappointment being the weird version of the theme song, performed by Groove Aramada. It is nothing like the normal theme, except in the first 20 seconds or so. The Tom Jones remix is excellent, and all the other songs are pretty good too. It's music to chill out to, while doing study, or reading, or whatever.
