5.0 out of 5 stars The Girls Are Back! YAY!
I've loved the show for years and was always jealous of their sense of style. I totally loved the movie and this book is a fashionista's dream - a wonderful reference guide to all of its couture fashion - and full of interesting and entertaining behind the scenes stories. For anyone who is a fan of the show and its movies, this is a wonderful keepsake. Let's hope that we...

3.0 out of 5 stars Carried Far Away
I loved the book! The pictures are amazing but I wanted more back stories like the other movie book. I felt like maybe this was thrown together to quickly. I also don't recall if the original book came out after the movie was already out so they were able to get in more details without ruining the movie. Maybe they have a second book planned and this is just a tease.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful photography; heavy on fashion, June 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sex and the City 2: The Stories. The Fashion. The Adventure. (Paperback)
This book seems to get mixed reviews here, but I bought it anyway. Full of beautiful color photography, this book does not disappoint visually. As in the book about the first movie (Sex and the City: The Movie [SEX & THE CITY M/TV]), at times, the art department went a little overboard on the retouching, completely obliterating any lines underneath the stars' eyes (male AND female), giving them a completely unnatural smoothness. C'mon people--they all look great...let 'em show their age!

The emphasis on this book is the fashion; for Sarah Jessica Parker, her character Carrie's outfits are detailed in page after page, giving the info on the outfits, jewelry, and shoes. The other three stars do not get the same amount of space, which is a shame, because the entire franchise of Sex and the City is about the ensemble. It does get a little sickening how much SJP puts herself front and center with the publicity.

Plenty of other interesting anecdotes though: how Morocco filled in for Dubai, how the set was created for Stanford's wedding, Liza Minnelli's surprise gift to the cast, and how a Times Square restaurant was transformed into Samantha's office. The beginning of the book gives a brief recap of where the characters were at the end of the last movie, which serves as a nice bridge.

Fans of the second movie will enjoy this book. My only other gripe is that a hardcover edition was not made available.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOOOVE IT!, June 2, 2010
This review is from: Sex and the City 2: The Stories. The Fashion. The Adventure. (Paperback)
This book is fabulous. I love the behind the scenes look at the sets and the interviews with the cast members. The book really captures the essence of what SATC is about: the fashion, the girls, the guys, and how it all comes together.
If you are a fan of SATC you will love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Fashion Fun, June 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I saw this book in the local grocery store but waited to purchase it from Amazon.com. It is a fun exploration of the wardrobe choices for each of the actresses in the second Sex and the City movie with the emphasis on Carrie, of course. Of course, this is total fantasy. Carrie couldn't afford the clothes she wore as a single woman; however, maybe her status as the author of multiple books can explain how she affords these designer clothes and shoes and bags and jewelry. Going through the pages of this book is really a course in contemporary fashion, and you could learn to throw together a more modest wardrobe just from going through its pages. More importantly, it is just fun, and more fun than going through any of the current fashion magazines because these outfits are pulled together and suit the personalities of these four beautiful women instead of mean-looking, smoky-eyed models in magazines. You can actually imagine wearing these clothes, and it's fun to look at the way in which the clothes capture the personalities and statuses of the four women. Oh, yes, and you'll love the outfits that didn't make it, and you'll be able to tell why. This was an excellent bargain for the money!

4.0 out of 5 stars From a Die-Hard Fan's POV, May 4, 2011
By
Lit Fan (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
I love the Sex and the City story. I loved the HBO show. I loved the original movie. And I like the sequel. I'm the fan that will probably love anything they do.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon are the stars of the film. There are special appearances by Liza Minnelli, Tim Gunn, and Penelope Cruz.

Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte come back two years after the original film ends. We see how everyone's life has developed - Carrie is worried that she and Big are becoming the typical boring married couple. Samantha is beautiful and fabulous and looking for all the miracle treatments to stay young. Miranda is over worked and stressed at her job and she's been neglecting her family. Charlotte has a full-time nanny, but is still stressed as she raises her two young children.

The ladies go on a trip to Abu Dhabi at the behest of a Arab sheikh. No expense is spared as the ladies experience this new place. They have a fabulous time until Carrie runs into an ex-boyfriend and Samantha snubs her nose at Abu Dhabi laws/norms. I was a bit taken back with Samantha's brash disregard for the laws/norms of Abu Dhabi. She was being true to her character, but I thought the writers took that a bit too far.

Some people have criticized the lavash excess that is shown in the film. I get it, but being frugal was never what SATC was about. I wouldn't expect to watch it and see the girls not living fabulously. Numerous articles were written back when the TV show aired about how the show misrepresents a magazine and book author's income because most in this profession can not afford the luxurious things Carrie buys. But this is a film. We are asked to suspend our rational thinking to be taking into this fairy tale world. And its nice to just dream like that for an hour.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!, June 3, 2010

This review is from: Sex and the City 2: The Stories. The Fashion. The Adventure. (Paperback)
I have been a fan of SATC since day one, and this book did not disappoint me! The photographs are colorful and vibrant, showcasing the gorgeous clothes in all their glory. I especially loved how they delved into Patricia Field's creative process and showed how the wardrobe is actually selected. The behind the scenes interviews with cast members are also fantastic - be honest, we all want to know what they're thinking. All in all, it's a great read, and a perfect support to the movie. For anyone who is a fan of the ladies, this book is something you'll always hold onto - it's going on my coffee table so everyone can see!
