An Excellent Primer on Sex Differences, January 13, 2002
This review is from: Sex Differences in Cognitive Abilities: 3rd Edition (Hardcover)
Halpern provides a masterful introduction to the complex and controversial subject matter of sex differences in cognitive abilities. Halpern has aimed the book towards readers with a basic-level background in psychology, biology, and research methods. Because of the author's inclusion of two introductory chapters, one on the theoretical approaches to the area and one on methodological and statistical issues relevant to this area of research, the book would work very well as the primary textbook in a graduate or advanced undergraduate course in departments of psychology, zoology, or education. Those interested college readers from other disciplines are also likely to find the book a worthwhile purchase.
