Book Description

It’s July 2008, and uber-geek Liquin Sonos journeys back to the one place on Earth where he feels normal: the San Diego Comic-Con. Accompanied by first-time attendee Kate, socially inept would-be animator Windsor, and the flamboyant talent agent Brigham, Liquin delves further into the sex and drug fueled parties that underscore the convention and his mind and spirit wear down, he must confront his own creative ambition and loneliness to discover his life direction as the ultimate outsider.

Sex, Drugs & Superheroes is the hereto untold story of the famed San Diego Comic-Con. From a stark look at the camaraderie, rivalries, vernacular language and traditions of Comic-Con, to the love-hate relationship with the Hollywood establishment that feeds it, never before has a book covered the nature of the American geek subculture. The first in an open-ended book cycle following the adventures of Liquin and his friends as they follow their dreams, Sex, Drugs & Superheroes speaks to anyone with a love of all things geeky, or to anyone who has ever had a creative dream.

About the Author

Self proclaimed uber-geek David Reddish is the award-winning author of Sex, Drugs & Superheroes: A Savage Journey into a Wretched Hive of Scum & Supervillainy, as well as the forthcoming The Passion of St. Sergius & St. Bacchus. A prolific screenwriter as well as a novelist, Mr. Reddish has also written the as-yet unproduced Sycophant, Embellishment, Algonquin Hills and Leopard Messiah, as well as the television sitcom The Temps.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Reddish demonstrated early verbal gifts, first speaking in complete sentences at nine months old, and an ability to read by age one and a half.  By age five, he was already writing short stories and plays which he would often produce in his living room for family and friends.  His talent with words lead him to work as a child stage actor and classical vocalist before turning to his focus to writing in his college years.  A decorated scholar, Reddish graduated with a degree in Film from the University of Central Florida.

Always known for his brash, outspoken manner and eccentric behavior, David Reddish has won awards for his political activism with the Stonewall Young Democrats, as well as pop culture acclaim for his fashion design work, his style ranging from grunge rock to Cyberpunk chic. Working on occasion as a model and go-go dancer gained Reddish notoriety as a Los Angeles socialite, his circle of friends ranging from poverty row to the Hollywood A-List-his persona, like his written works, always versatile and original.  He currently resides in Studio City, California.

This is hilarious, crazy, and fun - and hard to put down. I got the full experience of going to Comic-Con through this book, and it's simultaneously made me want to go myself and to go with this author.

Buy this book! It'll be what every is talking about at "the Con."

5.0 out of 5 stars Enthralling March 3, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
I could not put it down. I decided to have a look at the sample online at the recommendation of a friend and read through the entire thing and was hungry for more. I bought the ebook copy from Barnes & Noble since I know I can read their format on my computer and from the moment I bought it until I finished it I did not stop reading. This book shows you the geek world from a completely fresh perspective that I find to be captivating. I hope to see a great many more works by David Reddish.

5.0 out of 5 stars A ride on the wild side! July 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
David takes us on a majestic adventure through the depths of the wild and sometimes inconceivable Comic Con. His characters spring to life as they overcome fear, persecution, fantasy and the very strange. A real interpretation of a surrealistic adventure, Reddish pulls you into an adventure with characters as real as the situation, itself. From genuine curiosity, to full-blown reality, David's executive geeks and fanboys, come to life! A book that's hard to put down, until fully read, and a journey that's hard to let go of. Liquin lets you know where to be and how to get there. Curiosity and adventure overcomes the reader and takes you into a journey of the mind, soul and body and finds a love that's within reach and slaps you in the face with its search for the soul. I look forward to reading more from this artist. If only it could come soon enough!
