My partner and I were having a sexual problem. We are both retired and want to have a rewarding sex life together. Dr. Ruth gave me insight to try a couple of new things that are really helping.

Despite the fact that this is a "Dummies" book, it is actually quite detailed and scientific in nature. A good review of basic facts in regards to male & female bodies, esp. for those of us who have been out of sex ed for a while now. Also provides some thoughtful information for "beginners".

It also includes interesting extra facts & information, like sex during pregnancy, sex during menstruation, the importance of prostate & other male/female exams, interesting pros & cons of different positions, etc.

Also, Dr. Ruth's personality comes through in the book, which is generally a good thing. She adds a touch of humor to this book, though at times a bit too quirky...

Overall, a good book for the topic and probably useful for parents wanting to speak to their kids about sex (or if they are too uneasy to give them the talk directly).

Ruth Westheimer has helped pioneer media psychology as a psychosexual therapist. Her book covers a wide array of topics on sex from the basics to maintaining healthy sexuality. The book is well written, non-judgmental, easy to read and informative.

Excellent, down to eath, reasonable, rational, intelligent. You can't go wrong. Great resource for parents and older teens alike. Yep, purchased it to make sure I was giving my teen accurate info and had no problem giving him the book to read on his own. I highly recommend it. Easy and enjoyable to read. Good advice on teaching kids as well as anything else you might want to know.

I bought this for my 24 year old sister for her bachelorette party as a gag-gift several years ago and by the end of the night EVERYONE had read some of it-including the guys! I read it, too, and felt it was a great tool for my children once they were a bit more 'mature.' I know they can find out things on the internet about sex, but I decided to buy it for my son (16) and my daughter (20) and give it to them stating "Knowledge is Power, my sweets!" My daughter was thrilled and although my son was a bit more demure, I truly feel that it's the book they will reference for straight-forward, honest, correct answers in an empowering way.

It's a very thorough book on the subject including dating, relationships, sexually transmitted diseases, and so forth with diagrams. A must have book for the teenager and virgin.

i originally bought it for novelty. but i started reading it. i thought i knew one hell of a lot in terms of sex (lots of intimate girlfriends) but appearantly there is a hell of a lot i didn't know. score one for the jewish writer Dr. Ruth (she tells you she's a jew many times in the book). if you know jack about sex or even if you think you know it all, trust me, pick up this book and learn. it'll change your perspective. it did mine.

Bought this book for a not so great lover in the hope we could improve our sex lives. It is pretty basic but if you don't read it, it can't help. My friend wouldn't read it and I moved on to better things.

Kindly written, informative, comprehensive, neutral, useful. Everyone should own a copy of this book. Even the "experts"!
